G/O Media Inc. is the "media company" run by vulture capital firm Great Hill Partners that killed Deadspin. It also runs Gizmodo, Kotaku, Jezebel, The Onion and other sister websites. G/O was formed in early 2019 when Great Hill Partners, a private equity firm, purchased the websites from Univision, which created the Gizmodo Media Group when acquiring the former Gawker Media properties from bankruptcy in 2016. Former Forbes executive Jim Spanfeller and herb, became the CEO of G/O Media.
