Born 1955 Patna India in a highly distinguished family.His greatgrandfather was the Father of Indian Constitution and later First President of the Indian Republic.He received his early education from ultaelitist Colvin College,Lucknow where he had a brilliant career despite dyslexia.He then went to Kanpur,London,Edinburgh and Leeds Universities and by the time he was 35,had earned top qualifictions in medicine,pediatrics,psychiatry,pharmacology,anthropology,history geography and law.He rose to become Adjunct Full Professor of Anthropology at Columbia University,New York and held senior positions at several universities around the world.Nobel Laureate Sir Derek Barton once described him as perfect example of twentieth century genius.

His main contribution was discovery of sodium valproate as a safe alternative to lithium in bipolar illness which benifitted millions.He also has a syndrome named after him linking mania to Hashimoto's thyroiditis.He is the youngest scientist to find a place in TOP 1000 SCIENTISTS FROM THE BEGINNING OF TIME TO 2000 AD by Philip Barker which is a compilation of top 1000 names in science as voted by 80 universities around the world.He steadfastly refused any honor preferring a low profile.However he remains one of the greatest scientific philosophers of all time.Several disputes lead to early retirement to his hometown Gorakhpur where he is leading the life of a recluse.
