Background
The song was announced on Good Morning America on December 5, 2019, with a same-day release date at midnight. Swift wrote the song the week beforehand and announced an accompanying music video, made from home videos, to premiere that night. The song title refers to the Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania that Swift grew up on as a child.
