This IP address is assigned to the main server of Putnam Internet Services,an ISP on the same premises as Pragmatic Patents & Industries (which pays for the upstream connection,is formally allocated the IP block, and is owned by the family of Putnam Internet's owner,Louis Epstein).Only Mr. Epstein has ever used it to edit Misplaced Pages.

There's nothing left to discuss here! Warning

You've been asked/told on countless occasions to follow the normal rules of English punctuation when editing the encyclopedia. You've steadfastly refused. You insist that the entire world (apart from you) is wrong, so you intend to continue inserting your nonstandard formatting until the rest of us accept that fact.
As I recall, you came close to being banned, but you were permitted to continue editing on the condition that volunteers monitor your edits and promptly clean up after you. No such monitoring and cleanup are occurring (I just corrected an addition from 2 April), presumably because the agreement ended when you claimed to leave Misplaced Pages.
I'm writing to provide an opportunity for you to cease the deliberate disruption. I assume that you'll soon remove this message (with no response beyond a rude edit summary, if that), which is fine. I don't expect politeness from you. I only expect you to either stop polluting the encyclopedia with your activism or be blocked (not by me, of course). The choice is yours. —David Levy 06:25, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Carrie C. White

The article Carrie C. White has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Recently recreated article that was redirected to List of supercentenarians from the United States as failing WP:BIO five and a half years ago. The section was deleted from the list since her claimed age is no longer accepted.

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, I'm GorillaWarfare. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Transphobia, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. GorillaWarfare (talk) 05:47, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Disruptive editing at Transphobia

Hi, 12.144.5.2,

I want to discuss a topic with you about the Transphobia article, where you have recently been active both in the article and the Talk page. This discussion started at Talk:Transphobia but I'm continuing it here, because it doesn't really seem to be about improving the article anymore—if it ever was—rather, it's about what looks to me like disruptive editing on your part.

After a discussion you started at Talk:Transphobia that started out rocky but seemed to be moving in the right direction, I really had high hopes you were going to contribute something positive to the article. I still do, but your last edits to the article were disappointing. I hope you understand why you were reverted by User:GorillaWarfare, which she explained in the edit summary of her revert, namely, "Failure to cite a reliable source. Actually, she was going easy on you in the edit summary, because it was worse than that: you interpolated words into the article that are purely your own opinion about transsexuality. Even worse, you inserted your opinions into a sentence which has a reference at the end of it, making it appear that your opinion is validated by the authors of the work, when in fact nothing could be further from the truth.

From your use of words on the Talk page, it's clear that your are an intelligent person, so I'm afraid that playing dumb about not understanding the difference between inserting your own opinions into the article and inserting neutral material with references from reliable sources is not going to fly. Please be sure that any further material you insert into the article is fully supported by a reliable source which you should include in the very same edit as your changes, to avoid being reverted again. Furthermore, as the Transphobia article is subject to discretionary sanctions, which you've already been advised about above, you may possibly find yourself blocked from editing for even a single perceived mistake in this controversial area.

My advice to you is twofold: please abandon the Transphobia article for a time, find a non-controversial article that is not subject to discretionary sanctions, and make some improvements there. If you insist on continuing to edit Transphobia, I strongly recommend that you propose any changes you wish to make to the article on the Talk page first, and wait for some reactions, before inserting anything into the article itself. I hope you take this advice to heart. Cordially, Mathglot (talk) 09:20, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

You may consider my attempts to improve the Transphobia article permanently abandoned as I regard my point as proven.Any statement that does not reflect a pro-trans POV gets edited out of the article.--L.E./12.144.5.2 (talk) 18:57, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
You are too smart to believe that, and Misplaced Pages needs smart editors like you. I hope you find another article of interest to you that you can contribute to, perhaps something not subject to a lot of controversy. What are your other interests? Do you follow sports, film, video games, history, or have a hobby that is underrepresented here? There are a bunch of WikiProjects that welcome new volunteers and often have a backlog of tasks that need help in various interesting areas. Here's a Directory of WikiProjects you can browse.
Feel free to ping me anytime, or, if you need help about any topic, you could try the Tea House, or just add a question to your talk page and put {{HelpMe}} above it, and an admin will come by to assist. Mathglot (talk) 22:30, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
If you've looked at my history back to 2003 (as you indicated) you know that I have contributed in a wide variety of areas but have gotten absolutely fed up with certain Misplaced Pages-culture attributes. You can't expect to tap the expertise of those you disrespect.--L.E./12.144.5.2 (talk) 01:10, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
Okay, I get that, but I'm guessing you're talking about what you perceive to be a politico-cultural divide which is at the root of the disrespect (apologies if I guessed wrong), but that wouldn't affect all subject areas of the encyclopedia, right? I've noticed here and there different experienced editors getting fed up and either storming off, or slinking away quietly but the end result is a loss to the encyclopedia; I wouldn't like to see that happen here. This is not a suggestions that you go and get involved there again right away, since I can sense your frustration, maybe even disgust, at what you perceive to be going on and I still think you should take a break from that article and whole subject area for a while. But that doesn't mean forever, either, and once you've maybe worked on some other stuff if you still want to tackle Transphobia when you're in a better mood, it will probably go better. Misplaced Pages may have started out small, but it's a giant battleship or maybe better, huge, motorless barge now, and if your mission is to turn it all by yourself, you're going to get frustrated. Try just shoring up the timbers here and there, where you see you can plug a leak or fix some structure; that will help the project, and I suspect, bring you back to the spirit which brought you here in the first place.
Here's one idea for you that I hope will help: I somehow stumbled over SuggestBot which is a bot that looks at your history and comes up with some suggestions of articles to work on. You can either subscribe, or do it just once. I did it once, and if you want, have a look at my Talk page to see what SuggestBot suggested for me. I took its advice in a few cases, and had a ball. It's pretty cool, you should give it a try! Mathglot (talk) 19:26, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
There are a handful of articles I do tend to chime in on but in general,I feel that it's a matter of personal integrity to ensure that Misplaced Pages pays a price (if my contributions are deemed to have a value that I can withhold) for its toxic culture. There are people who were encouraging me to stay years ago who are themselves gone...perhaps someday something will cross a line for you and you'll join them.--L.E./12.144.5.2 (talk) 01:25, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
Yikes, ...to ensure that Misplaced Pages pays a price...—whoa, there! Can I ask if you got into a lot of bar fights when you were younger? Seriously, while some things can get my dander up (say, monolinguals plunking machine-translated gobbledygook translated from a foreign wikipedia article onto a fresh page, and calling it a new article) I try to take a deep breath, and discuss calmly. Sometimes several deep breaths, or a day or two's worth. As in a way, it's not my basic nature (which I suspect is more like yours, in reality). Encountering opposition, sometimes even antagonism, here and having to deal with it, is actually a pretty good training ground I find for RL conflict of certain types. If only everyone slugging it out on political internet forums were obligated to first take an apprenticeship at WP in reaching consensus on a controversial article change before they were allowed to post on their fave forum, the world would be a better place. Maybe you and I should head out to a bar, beat each other to a pulp, and come back and edit calmly, trying not to bleed too much onto the articles. Whaddaya say? Know any good dive bars, where a little bust-up outside will be ho-hummed and yawned off, so we can go back in afterward and have another beer, and try to speed-edit each other into oblivion on our favorite article where we disagree? ;-) Mathglot (talk) 02:40, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

By the way, on a separate topic (in fact, feel free to interpolate a new section header just above this if you feel like it) did you never consider registering a named userid for yourself? It's free, and unlike many sites, you absolutely, positively, will not get any email spam, I personally guarantee it. Mathglot (talk) 02:55, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

I don't do bars.
One of the people who used to encourage me to contribute to Misplaced Pages but eventually left actually created a registered account for me,but I hardly ever use it (I prefer not to be in any databases I can avoid and am rather invested in the IP-address identity).--L.E./12.144.5.2 (talk) 05:49, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Discretionary sanctions notification

This message contains important information about an administrative situation on Misplaced Pages. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding transgender issues and paraphilia classification (e.g. hebephilia), a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Misplaced Pages, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you that sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions. Geoffrey Alexander Rowley-Conwy, 9th Baron Langford

Hello. Please note that per WP:BLP, "All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable, published source." I am challenging the inclusion of the phrase "He is the longest-lived peer in history" because I find it unlikely that you (or anyone) has reviewed the birth and death dates of every peer "in history" and concluded that he was the longest-lived. If, of course, you can produce a reliable source that makes this claim, then I would drop my objection, but until then I am removing it per the policy at WP:BLP. Please do not re-add this statement without a proper citation. I would also suggest reviewing Misplaced Pages's policy on no personal attacks. Canadian Paul 14:05, 1 September 2017 (UTC)

Boris Godunov as "slugar"

I search the online Encyclopaedia Britannica, and they don't mention said title. However, the Wikisource's 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica does mention said title, but as "sluga", not as "sulgar". That may have been why my original search gave me nothing. André Anselmo (talk) 20:12, 6 January 2018 (UTC)

https://en.wikisource.org/Page:EB1911_-_Volume_04.djvu/269 - You can see here a scan of the 1911 encyclopaedia, alongside the transcribed text, which shows the title as "sluga". André Anselmo (talk) 21:35, 6 January 2018 (UTC)

Inigo Hare

Thanks for your message and update. I had assumed given the dead link it was a deceitful edit, but can see that is not the case. There is clearly an Inigo Hare who is almost certainly Caspar's son based on this evidence and another death notice I have unearthed, though it is perhaps less clear that he is a son born in wedlock (which is required for him to be an heir). Reference books are never perfect (particularly as the Hare family now reside in the US), but I'm sure you're aware that we need some source to cite to list Inigo as heir, and I am concerned that a patchwork of death notices and the foreword to a book isn't strong enough. --New Progressive (talk) 19:43, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

IP account

Hi Lewis, the "Shard IP" template is a standard template that is added to literally thousands of IP user pages. While this IP address may be assigned to you and/or your company now, they do change on occasion. These pages can become quite lengthy, disorganized and out of date and editors will, from time to time, attempt to clean them up. However, I have now added a suppressed notice advising others to not add that template here. This should prevent it from being added again. That aside, it is of course also your choice to edit solely via an IP account, but you should consider the benefits of registering for an account. Either way, happy editing and have a good evening - WOLFchild 00:12, 30 January 2018 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm TheDragonFire300. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Don Baldwin, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Misplaced Pages has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Regards, User:TheDragonFire300. (Contact me | Contributions). Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Orin C. Smith. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Misplaced Pages:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Qzd (talk) 22:48, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did with this edit to Alfred I. duPont Testamentary Trust. Doing so violates Misplaced Pages's verifiability policy. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages. ~Oshwah~ 07:34, 22 March 2018 (UTC)

Thanks

Hi Louis, just a quick thank you (since the Thanks notification system doesn't work for IP addresses) for your edit to Kasos disambiguating Mehmet Ali Pasha. Just fyi: after Sam4U's repair of their mistaken revert, I took it one step further, based on the principles of WP:NOPIPEDLINK. Thought you might like to know.

On a separate topic: I know you like your IP-hood, but I'm still hoping you'll use your registered name, or re-register one day. Some editors, when they see an IP user involved in an edit, are a little quicker on the revert-trigger finger than they ought to be. I'm sure I've probably been guilty of that myself, and I'll strive to be more evenhanded. Anyway, thanks again, and happy editing! Mathglot (talk) 22:15, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

Mount Vernon High School (New York)

Welcome to Misplaced Pages. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Mount Vernon High School (New York) has been reverted.
Your edit here to Mount Vernon High School (New York) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://lfballonhoops.blogspot.com/2208/09/mt-vernon-and-jrjeron-situation.html) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Misplaced Pages. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, fansite, or similar site (see 'Links to avoid', #11), then please check the information on the external site thoroughly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creator's copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Misplaced Pages's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 04:56, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make the edit, please ignore this notice.

Burden

Please note that, before blaming other people, it is solely your burden to provide sources for edit want to have intact per WP:BURDEN. Also, I do not see either source you now linked on my first Google page (might be country restrictions), and secondly, you could have already inserted the source in your first revert, removing the need for any other edit warring. Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Milton Keynes Dons F.C.. This contravenes Misplaced Pages's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:14, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

Seriously?...referencing already cited information in the public domain is "unsourced"?...MK's relegation is repeatedly referred to earlier in the article (with source) and Northampton's is referenced in the same linked article.I see that your own talk page doesn't allow me to reply there!
(suggestion that I get an account deleted,I've been here MANY years and always been hostile to any avoidable registration).12.144.5.2 (talk) 16:08, 6 May 2018 (UTC)
Mattythewhite's talk page was protected over a month ago due to persistent vandalism and abuse by socks, it wasn't just done to prevent you from posting there. Also, I'm not sure why you are "hostile" to the suggestion of getting an account, but it's not necessary, it's just that... a suggestion. There are several benefits to having an account, (I'm not sure if you've ever looked into that), especially over using IP access and there isn't really a downside. But if wish to keep using IP access, that's your choice, but there's certainly no need for "hostility". - WOLFchild 22:34, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Misplaced Pages, as you did at Boreham Wood F.C.. Mattythewhite (talk) 00:59, 13 May 2018 (UTC)

Any Misplaced Pages policy that encourages the citation of sources for ubiquitously available information SHOULD BE COMPLETELY REVERSED.Doing so is the antithesis of scholarship and constitutes in its entirety an expression of arbitrary bias.12.144.5.2 (talk) 02:53, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
I'm beginning to wonder if you even understand the objectives of this project. Content must be supported by reliable sources. That is the only way to ensure the articles here are factual and correct. If the information is as widely available as you claim, then all the easier it should be for you to add a source for it. No policy is going to be "reversed" just because you don't like it or can't be bothered complying with it. And as I said before, there is no need for the hostility (which includes shouting). Relax already... - WOLFchild 03:33, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
I have strong views stemming from long experience. The policies Misplaced Pages has often interfere with accuracy, even though promoted on the basis of helping it.And as I said, because information is widely available, the citation of any specific source is entirely an expression of arbitrary bias.If you need to look hard for a source citation makes sense...if the news is all over the place picking a particular "source" makes no sense.(In any event, nothing but original research merits respect, and in these parts it doesn't get it).12.144.5.2 (talk) 03:50, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
And do we determine which original research is factually accurate and correct and which isn't? - WOLFchild 03:57, 13 May 2018 (UTC)

Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Misplaced Pages page, as you did at Talk:ContraPoints. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Misplaced Pages policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Misplaced Pages. — Bilorv (talk) 07:46, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to The Bangles, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube or Sci-Hub, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 02:06, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

How about opening an account?

Hi. I've noticed the good work you've been doing at Deaths in 2019 recently. Ever thought about opening a full Misplaced Pages account? I think you've got what it takes to make a good editor, so I hope you'll consider this idea. Best wishes. Ref (do) 20:43, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

Idea considered and rejected many years ago,all history of edits by this IP address is by one person who hates registering anywhere and always avoids it when possible.12.144.5.2 (talk) 20:47, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

Deanship as fact

I'm wasn't disputing that he is the Dean. However, to add this to the Misplaced Pages article you needed to provide a citation to a reliable source for the fact, so that readers can verify it. That's how Misplaced Pages works. It doesn't care what you know to be true (or what I know, or what any other editor knows). It only cares about things that can be verified by reference to reliable sources. This is enforced particularly strongly when it comes to biography articles. In this case, another editor has come along and provided a citation so hopefully the text will 'stick' in the article now and it won't be reverted again. Please stop removing maintenance templates from pages on Misplaced Pages, as you did to Dennis Skinner, without resolving the problem that the template refers to. This may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing. Please do not remove citation needed tags without either removing the unsourced content or referencing it with a reliable source. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:25, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in (a) GamerGate, (b) any gender-related dispute or controversy, (c) people associated with (a) or (b), all broadly construed. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Misplaced Pages's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Misplaced Pages's technical logs indicate that this IP address or network has been used to disrupt Misplaced Pages. It has been blocked from editing to prevent further abuse.
If you are not the intended target of this block, please read the information below in order to receive assistance.
Misplaced Pages tries to be open, but we sometimes must block IP addresses to prevent editing by abusers, vandals, or block evaders. These blocks can affect users who have done nothing wrong. If you are a legitimate user, follow the instructions below to edit despite the block. Users who are the intended target of a range block may still appeal the block.

IP users (without an account): If you do not have an account and wish to bypass this block, an account can be created to allow you to edit. In general, these blocks only prevent users who are not logged in from editing; once you are logged in, the block will no longer affect you in any way. To request an account, simply click here and follow the directions provided on the page. It is important that you use an e-mail address issued to you by your ISP, school, or organisation, so we may verify that you are a legitimate user. When filling out the account request form, please refer to this block in the "comments" input field. If you've been instructed to request an account via email, please refer to this block in your message.

Registered users (with an account): Please make sure you are logged in to your account. If you are unable to edit while logged in, you may request IP block exemption to bypass blocks unconnected with you that affect your editing. Post an unblock request to your user talk page.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

Do NOT attempt to contact me off-wiki again

You attempted to kvetch in a comment on my personal blog. It failed moderation (obviously) and I have marked it as spam.

You must NOT attempt to contact me off-wiki again.

I do not give a hoot about your personal opinions, as opinions, regarding chromosomes. I only care that your personal problems run the risk of harming people, and, yes, that does include yourself. In case you did not see my reply to your comment on my own talk page I will reproduce the important part here:

Now, I know what I am about to say might sound like hyperbole but I swear that it is not and I beg you to consider it seriously. I am genuinely concerned for your mental health. I do not know what has happened to make you so obsessed with trans people but I do not think that this is healthy either for you or for them. If you are looking up trans people on Kiwi Farms then you are associating with neo-Nazis and other criminals, maybe even terrorists. They have hounded at least one person to suicide. There is nothing good there, either for you or for anybody else. There are people who can help you before this spirals any further out of control. Please seek help from a qualified mental health professional! --DanielRigal (talk) 03:19, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
