After gaining sentience and being dubbed Awesome Andy, he has shown that he cares deeply for his friends and coworkers and is willing to fight to protect them. He also has several interests and hobbies, such as ] and baseball &mdash; specifically, as a ] fan. As the Mad Thinker did not give him the ability to speak, Awesome Andy communicates through hand-gestures, body language, and a chalkboard that he has strung around his neck.

Despite his lack of facial features and a voice, Andy can be emotional at times, having displayed feelings for co-worker Mallory Book, who was left confined to a wheelchair when the law offices were destroyed. He also was visibly upset after seeing her flirt with the ]. Andy subsequently began a relationship with Book, but later discovered Book's feelings for him were the result of his having inadvertently absorbed the ]-like powers of the alien ]. Not wanting the relationship to be based on false, manipulated emotions, Andy shut off the Starfox power, after which Book ended the "relationship".

The Awesome Android is a Marvel Comics android and first appeared in Fantastic Four Vol. 1, #15. The android was a concept originally conceived by Mr. Fantastic and was stolen and used by the Mad Thinker.

Fictional character biography

The Awesome Android is a synthesis of ape DNA and unstable molecules incorporated into an almost indestructible android body with a micro-computer and solar-power source. A pawn of the Mad Thinker, the Android battles the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Rom and the Avengers (as part of Heavy Metal, a team formed by the Super-Adaptoid ) over the years. It is during this final battle that the Android is incapacitated as the Sub-Mariner wrenches it's head off and lets the body sink into the ocean.

The Android has since reappeared, and after gaining self-awareness decided to reform. The law firm of Goodman, Lieber, Kurtzberg, and Holliway had the Android legally emancipated from the Mad Thinker, declared male and made into an American citizen called Awesome Andy. "Andy" now works at the law firm as a general office worker. Although the Mad Thinker did not give the Android the ability to speak, "Andy" communicates via hand-gestures, body language, and a chalkboard strung around the neck. "Andy" has also developed a personality - he has an interest in tai chi and baseball. It is uncertain as to whether this is canon as the series featuring these developments showcases a very tongue-in-cheek character - She-Hulk - whose continuity in past series has not always been adhered to.

This left Robbie mentally handicapped, and it has not been revealed what other processes Rhona performed on Robbie to turn him into the android-like creature he became.
