A few of the main characters from My Hero Academia. From left to right: Tenya Iida, Ochako Uraraka, Izuku "Deku" Midoriya, Katsuki "Kacchan" Bakugo and Shōto Todoroki.

The My Hero Academia manga and anime series features a vast world with an extensive cast of characters created by Kōhei Horikoshi. The series takes place in a fictional world where, currently, more than 80% of the Earth's population possesses some form of superhuman ability, commonly referred to as "Quirks;” the appearance of these abilities has given rise to not only professional heroes, but also the threat of villains.

U.A. High School

The main setting of the series; U.A. High School (雄英高校, Yūei Kōkō) is considered by many the top hero school in Japan.

Class 1-A students

Izuku Midoriya (緑谷 出久, Midoria Izuku) / Deku (デク, Deku)
Voiced by: Daiki Yamashita (Anime and Vomic) (Japanese); Justin Briner (English)
An initially "Quirkless" boy who aspires to be a hero, after attempting to save Bakugō from a villain, Izuku is chosen by All Might to become the ninth holder of One For All (ワン・フォー・オール, Wan Fō Ōru), a Quirk that stockpiles the user's physical strength and unleashes it as a powerful burst; the quirk can also be passed from one person to another. Eventually, Izuku finds out that One for All contains the quirks of the previous users but he becomes the first user capable of manifesting them. While he initially disliked being called "Deku" by Katsuki, as it is based from the Japanese term meaning "good-for-nothing.", Izuku is inspired by Ochaco's assumption that it was based on the word dekiru (できる, to be able to/to be capable of) to embrace the moniker and ultimately adopts it as his Hero name.

Mirio is one of the three top students in U.A. and Sir Nighteye's protégé. His Quirk Permeation (透過, Tōka) allows him to become intangible, letting him travel through solid walls and the ground while also letting enemy attacks pass through him harmlessly. If he returns to his solid state while phasing through something, his body would be repelled outward. While intangible, he experiences a falling sensation because he still has mass, and everything passes through him, including light, sound, and air; meaning, while his Quirk is active, he can't see, hear, or breathe.
Initially, he struggled with his Quirk but after training with Sir Nighteye did he manage to perfect it.
Mirio lost his Quirk after his fight against Overhaul, during which he was struck by a bullet containing the Quirk-Destroying Drug, taking the bullet in Eri's place. However, according to Shota Aizawa, once Eri gets a better handle on her reversing Quirk, Mirio's own Quirk could be restored.

After vigorous training at U.A., Tamaki is capable of using multiple manifestations at once, controlling the size of the manifestation, as well as being able to accurately choose the best feature of whatever he's eaten to fit any given situation.

Eri (壊理, Eri)
Voiced by: Seiran Kobayashi (Japanese); Emily Neves (English)
Eri is the adopted daughter of Chisaki, who used her quirk in order to create "Quirk-destroying bullets". Her Quirk Rewind (人を巻き戻す, Hito o Maki Modosu) allows her to bring an individual's body to a previous state, allowing her to heal injuries and undo bodily modifications. She has even shown the ability to rewind someone's body to a point before they existed.
As a result of her Quirk mutating her body, Eri's blood is able to attack an individual's Quirk and stop its activation.
The source of her Quirk's power is located in the horn on the right side of her forehead, and the size of the horn dictates the strength of her power. It is also an accumulation-type Quirk, which means the power it emits has to build up over a period of time before becoming usable.
It was suggested by Shota Aizawa that her Quirk can even rewind the bodies of those who have lost their Quirks and restore them. However, Shota said that the Quirk only works on people, not on things, which means that it's not something that can be easily trained.
