Plasmodium aegyptensis is a parasite of the genus Plasmodium subgenus Vinckeia. Like all Plasmodium species it has vertebrate and mosquito hosts. The vertebrate host is the Egyptian grass rat (Arvicanthis noloticus). The mosquito vector is not yet known.
Description
This species was first described in 1975 by Abd-el-Aziz et al.
