Actually DGG, I wasn't aware that you were "on the case", so to speak. I started from here. I had a look at the mainspace contribs, and deleted contribs on the articles edited, and the sockpuppetry was so blindingly obvious I just had to act (ordinarily I would send to SPI but this one would have been a waste of time as a foregone conclusion). Alan McGee

Hi there, I noticed you just added a "Bibliography" section to Alan McGee.. were these sources for the article text? Or did you add them as a list of related books? Ah ok. Usually I take Bibliography to mean books that were used as sources and quoted multiple times (lesser-spotted wikipedia referencing method that is nonetheless quite elegant!) Jdcooper (talk) 23:18, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

@Jdcooper: I personally would consider a "Bibliography" to be the book equivalent of a "Discography", i.e. books written by the subject of the article. However, I've seen "Bibliography" used to list books about the subject, which is why I used that heading.

define:Bibliography on Google says it means either "a list of the books referred to in a scholarly work, typically printed as an appendix" (your version), or "a list of the books of a specific author or publisher, or on a specific subject" (my version, but with an "or", making it 3 meanings!). Pesky English language!

"Further reading" seems rather open-ended and like an invitation to add crud or be subjective. Hpwever, as the list I added is not intended to be a list of references used in the articles, nor were they all written by McGee, I concur with your reasoning and having checked the guidelines it would appear to be the preferred wording too. WT:GAN

Kingboyk, for future reference, please do not edit the WT:GAN page directly. (I reverted your most recent edit when I saw it; as it happens, the bot came through and agreed with your edit, but editors should as a general rule stay away from editing the page.)

If there are any issues with GANs, then the problem is almost certainly with either the {{GA nominee}} template (in this case) or the GA review page (or both); fixing them will result in the GAN page healing itself the next time Legobot runs, which is approximately every 20 minutes. In this case, the thing to do when you delete a review page (as you did with Talk:Ktheju tokës/GA1) is to immediately undo the review change and transclusion that Legobot did on the article talk page; if you can't do it immediately, then when you can (since I'm not an admin, it's when I can, since I never know when an admin will come along and handle my speedy deletion request of the review page when a nominator also opens a review or abandons a review after opening it)—the "Example" reviewer, which shows up when the Talk page's GA nominee template says "onreview" but there's no review page to be found, will disappear once "onreview" is removed from the "status" field. You can't remove "onreview" before the review page deletion is completed, because Legobot will just retransclude the review page the next time it runs.

@BlueMoonset: Yeah, I worked it out for myself eventually that editing the templates on the article's talk page should do the trick. As I mentioned on your talk page, I wasn't convinced the bot was going to co-operate and saw (and see) no harm in editing the page if the bot will overwrite the changes. Anyway, no bother; I was just trying to help an editor who had accidentally marked themselves as reviewer of their own submission, and now know how to deal with it if there is a next time. • The beta version of the Misplaced Pages app for Android can now help users add tags on Commons. These tags are called depicts.

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 31 March. It will be on non-Misplaced Pages wikis and some Wikipedias from 1 April. It will be on all wikis from 2 April (calendar).

Future changes

• The video player will change to be simpler and more modern. The current beta feature will become the video player for everyone. The old player will be removed.
• There is a project to make templates easier to use. The next few weeks the developers will present ideas on the project page. You can watch that page if you are interested in giving feedback.

Miscellaneous

• The WMF has begun a pilot report of the pages most visited through various social media platforms to help with anti-vandalism and anti-disinformation efforts. The report is updated daily and will be available through the end of May.

Problems

• There was a problem with user pages not being shown properly on desktop. This was because of a bug. It will soon be fixed.

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 April. It will be on non-Misplaced Pages wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 April. It will be on all wikis from 9 April (calendar).

Future changes

• MediaWiki will use a newer version of Unicode. Some characters that did not have an upper case equivalent before do now. Titles beginning with one of these characters will be moved. A list of these titles can be seen on Phabricator. The titles will be renamed by the user Maintenance script. This will start on 13 April 2020. You can rename them before this if you wish and the new title can be different from the one the script would rename it to.

Recent changes

• You can now use the articletopic search word on all Wikipedias. It searches articles by topic.
• You can see wiki tools in the new Tools Gallery.
• You can see edits from the Wikimedia Cloud Services in a new dashboard.
• When you use filters on a history page you sometimes don't see any edits. There is a text explaining this now. Before it was just empty.
• There is a new Wikimedia Technical Blog.

Problems

• There was a problem with the Wikidata database last week. Some wikis went down for twenty minutes. Wikidata and other projects showed error messages. Interwiki links were not shown, some tools did not work and other problems. Some of this was fixed quickly. The developers are working on fixing the rest.

Changes later this week

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from April 14. It will be on non-Misplaced Pages wikis and some Wikipedias from April 15. It will be on all wikis from April 16 (calendar).

Future changes

• Some graphs have not worked on mobile. This will soon be fixed.
• The article tab on talk pages of redirects links to the target of the redirect. It could link to the redirect page itself instead. You can leave feedback on this.
• For pages using syntax highlighting, the use of the deprecated <source> tag, as well as the use of the deprecated enclose parameter, will add tracking categories.

Recent changes

• The small wiki toolkits is to help smaller wikis that need technical skills. They can learn and share technical skills.
• Over-qualified CSS selectors in Wikimedia skins have been removed. div#content is now .mw-body. div.portal is now .portal. div#footer is now #footer. This is so the skins can use HTML5 elements. If your gadgets or user styles used them you will have to update them.

• There is no new MediaWiki version this week.

Future changes

• Some things on the wikis might look weird or not work in Internet Explorer 8 in the future. Internet Explorer 8 was replaced in 2011.
• The font in the diffs will change.
• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 28 April next week. It will be on non-Misplaced Pages wikis and some Wikipedias from 29 April next week. It will be on all wikis from 30 April next week (calendar).
