Your disruptive edit on the Hungary article and other violent behavior

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Misplaced Pages. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you.

Moxy: Don't do that again. I've been civil with you and we've discussed things calmly on our talk pages, though some of it should probably be on the Hungary talk page. But with your repeated reverts on the census source date issue, you are edit warring instead of following WP:BRD. Your last comment in our thread on your talk page is uncalled for and rude, not to mention rather violent in your use of "colourful" language, and certainly giving somebody an ultimatum is not the way to behave on WP toward fellow editors.

It is your last edit on the Hungary article that is prompting me to give you this warning. You reverted the page to a version from several dozen edits ago, thereby obliterating several users' edits, not just mine and your own. Your edit summary there was incomprehensible. If I may characterize, judging by your verbally violent reply in our thread on your user page and the last mass destruction edit in Hungary, you seem very angry for what reason I won't even speculate.

No, he obliterated only your edits, he reverted the page to a version from several dozen edits ago because you made several dozen edits before geting consensus on the talk page.(The Sr Guy (talk) 20:30, 20 February 2020 (UTC))

If I may I recommend, just calm down, take a breather, take a break. Walk away from editing for whatever time you need, then come back cool and collected and we can discuss how to make the Hungary article better together, okay? LisztianEndeavors (talk) 14:59, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

Revert again without getting consensus will lead to a block as per WP:3RV. Read over WP:BRD before adding things others have a problem with.--Moxy 🍁 21:04, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

Good that someone else has explained to you the problem (third person now).....perhaps best to edit subjects you have knowledge about and are able to interpret the sources properly. So it's clear to you now right?....when you have time a few editors have questions pending for you at the talk page.--Moxy 🍁 14:59, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

Hungary

Since you're a regular I won't template you. I am not involved in the map dispute between you and another editor. But you changed the religion parameter in the infobox even though there is an ongoing discussion about that parameter. Please look at the discussion, and please don't make unilateral decisions about article content in the midst of a discussion. That can result in the page being protected again. Perhaps you didn't realize there is a discussion, but you do now. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 18:15, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Rio de Janeiro

OK! I will write an article about this issue (Climate of Rio de Janeiro (city) — the city, not about the state with the same name — and I will put those climate charts there). Any objection? Scheridon (talk) 02:07, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

That sounds great....good on you ....much better solution then what I was doing.--Moxy 🍁 02:11, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of H:CERNT

Hello, Moxy

Welcome to Misplaced Pages!

Reports needed for WikiProject COVID-19?

Hi Moxy. It looks like you're coordinating a lot of the automated reporting work for the WikiProject. Please drop me a line if there are any new bot-generated reports (or improvements to existing reports) that would be useful. Demographic evolutions of Canada

Hello, I see you moved the section I made about the demographic evolution of canadian provinces in Provinces and territories of Canada to List of Canadian provinces and territories by population. I reverted this change because I believe the section and the tables are more at home in the former article, along with sections such as "Territorial evolution". What do you think? --Mottezen (talk) 19:47, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

No its not..One is about an area and the other about demographics.--Moxy 🍁 21:08, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
Yes, but the whole article is about the provinces and territories though. Also, you referred to the graphs as an "accessibility nightmare", would making them smaller fix that issue? Mottezen (talk) 21:24, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
The article is about a place not its people..its why we have an article called "...Canadian provinces and territories by population". Best read over WP:PROSE and MOS:DTAB and WP:REFLOOP.--Moxy 🍁 21:28, 29 March 2020 (UTC)

Hello Moxy, I don't understand the point you want to make on section Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_COVID-19#Reports_and_researches_on_Wikipedia's_COVID-19_response_?. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Let's clean up the COVID-19 Current Consensus Items!

Hey Moxy, the new {{Current COVID-19 Project Consensus}} template is now live. Let's ensure the items in the template are in great shape so we don't spread confusion in all pages.

There are a couple of discussions on items of the list that need more editors to reach consensus quickly (they shouldn't be too contentious but we need more votes):

Hope you can express your opinion for those changes!

Question about a particular page

Hi Moxy!

I have a question regarding a particular Misplaced Pages page (Insider movements), which, as it currently stands, does not meed Misplaced Pages's neutrality standard. I have read dozens of academic papers on this contentious subject, and it is clear that the author of this page is a strong supporter of one side of the debate.

Nearly every sentence of the article supports the affirmative case for this debated subject, and it misrepresents opposing viewpoints fairly egregiously. In fact, in quoting "opponents" of Insider Movements, the article only sources some middle-of-the-road academics, and completely omits any mention of the most well-known and vocal critics (along with their arguments). Additionally, all the Further Reading and External Links take readers to pro-Insider-Movement materials.

Upon discovering this, I shared the page with some anti-Insider-Movement academics, and the consensus was that the article could not even be neutrally edited; its bias is so strong that it could have been taken out of a pro-IM paper. Only by rewriting the whole thing, expanding the source materials, and reframing the introduction entirely could one fairly represent both sides of the debate using neutral language.

As a first-time editor, I do not know how to approach this prickly situation. I want to abide by the best of Misplaced Pages's terms of editorial conduct, so I am wondering how one would go about making such a comprehensive and page-redefining edit without causing affront to its author(s).

Thank you... and let me know if I need to provide more information.

Noersark (talk) 23:03, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

Noersark, (talk page watcher) here. The article Insider movement was written in 2012 by a single-purpose account (they created this article, worked on it for a few days, then never edited again). There's been some work on it since, but none of the editors who made significant contributions to the article are still active. My suggestion would be (1) start a discussion on Talk:Insider movement to lay out your concerns and see if any other editors are watching/interested, and (2) start a draft in your userspace to begin working on a revised version. You can link to your revision from the discussion to show other editors the approach you're taking. When your version is complete, you can get consensus from the other interested editors to swap out the article. That's the approach I took on a few old abandoned articles that I felt needed complete rewrites. I hope that helps. edited to add: Now that I've looked at the article's Talk page, I suspect it was a school assignment; note how many comments seem to be from fellow students as a peer review. Schazjmd (talk) 23:35, 27 April 2020 (UTC)

I'm surprised no one noticed what I believe to be a mistake here. Would you like to correct it in case someone reads it?
