1000mods is a heavy rock band from Greece, formed in 2006. The name of the group is a pun linked to Chiliomodi, the village in which they were formed, as "a thousand" is pronounced "chillia" in Greek. Despite their early days genre-orientation which was mainly influenced by Black Sabbath, and the late 90's stoner rock movement, in their latest releases, 1000mods evolved in an all-things rock band, with a very personal and unique sound, influenced by the 70's heaviness, as well as the glorious 90's rock sound.
History
1000mods formed in 2006 and released two EPs in their early years (2007's "Blank Reality" and 2009's "Liquid Sleep").
In October 2010, they produced their first album "Super Van Vacation", in collaboration with Billy Anderson (Sleep, Neurosis, etc.) and supported it with massive European touring, starting to make a name for themselves as an energetic and explosive live act. “Super Van Vacation” is now considered a timeless classic of the worldwide heavy rock scene, having sold more than 10.000 copies to date.
Their second album "Vultures" was released in 2014, May 30, via The Lab Records. European tours followed this time too, in one of which, 1000mods supported New Jersey's legendary heavy rock act The Atomic Bitchwax.
Their third album "Repeated Exposure to ..." in September 2016 via Ouga Booga and the Mighty Oug Recordings was produced and mixed by 1000mods and George Leodis, with Leodis leading up engineering at Wreck It Sound Studios in Corinth, Greece. The album was mastered by acknowledged mastering engineer Brad Boatright (Sleep, Toxic Holocaust, etc.) at Audiosiege Studios, Portland, Oregon. Praised by fans, as well as by international music press, “Repeated exposure to…” is considered by many a masterpiece of the heavy rock scene, and is strongly rumored to be one of the albums that changed the face of European heavy rock music.
Their fourth album was released in April 2020, and turned out to be their breakthrough record too. Deriving from the glorious 90's, while at the same time keeping the 1000mods spirit and originality, "Youth of Dissent" is produced by legend Matt Bayles (Pearl Jam, Mastodon, Isis, Soundgarden etc) and recorded at Litho Studio (owned by Stone Gossard, founding member of Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog, Mother Love Bone and Green River) and London Bridge Studio (where Pearl Jam’s “Ten” was recorded). "Youth of Dissent" was praised by the international music press as a top quality heavy rock album.
