Premier Trophy (Sri Lanka)
Hi mate. Just thought I would let you know that I have started work on creating a page for the 2018–19 Premier League Tournament Tier B. I notice that you worked on Tier A but not Tier B, which is the equivalent of Division Two of the County Championship. I have done the intro, table and first round of fixtures and will gradually do more matches, but please feel free to chip in if you can! Once done, I will start on the current season (again feel free to help). Can also make adjustments to other pages that can link to these. I wonder if the existing season's articles should be moved to, for example, Premier Trophy 2018–19 Premier Trophy Tournament Tier A? Bs1jac (talk) 18:33, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi! Superb - I've stayed away from the Tier B matches for a while, despite them being first-class! I will help out with these. I'll have a think about the possible renaming of the Tier A too. Thanks. Lugnuts 18:38, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah I figured, but thought I would take the plunge and get started given that they are first class and there is promotion/relegation. Cheers! Bs1jac (talk) 18:46, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac: - I've gone through the red-links for debuts, etc, and created them for players who have basic details (dates of birth + full names). This includes those who top-scored or took the most wickets in an innings, but didn't already have an article. Some of them had played more than 50 FC matches too! Lugnuts 10:56, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Excellent, I was hoping you might do that, hence why I left the red-links! I will go through removing red-links from the players that are not getting pages due to lack of info. I have also created a page for the 2017–18 season with just the intro and table for now, and later will do the same for any other seasons covered in Cricinfo (at least one more; perhaps before that there was no Tier B or it didn't have first-class status). Then we should really get the 2019–20 season going. Bs1jac (talk) 10:59, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi mate. I have done some more work on 2019–20 Premier League Tournament Tier B. Similar to Malith de Silva, I have identified a problem with Sanjaya Ranaweera that I hope you can help with. A player by this name (born in 1986) made his FC debut in round 7. Looking him up in Cricinfo, he has played this single FC match plus 7 T20s. The player with a Wiki page is a different person (born 1981 and with different initials), who has only played a single List A match, no FC or T20. The T20 debut mentioned on Sanjaya Ranaweera should actually be for other player. Would you mind creating the second player, a dab page, and tidying the info for both players? Thanks!! Bs1jac (talk) 21:03, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac: - Morning! Yep, leave it with me - I'll sort it out. Any others like this you might spot, just drop me a note. Thanks. Lugnuts 06:37, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- I think we've sorted that between us! Lugnuts 09:25, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

- Hi, I have finished another season for Tier B 2017–18 Premier League Tournament Tier B. I might do one more eventually (then before that it isn't in Cricinfo at least for a couple of years). For this one I have created pages for a few players with redlinks and removed the links for a couple of players that have no date of birth or full name in Cricinfo. Would you mind creating the few remainders? I have also added a ref for first-class debuts to some existing players but there will be more if you want to bother with those! Bs1jac (talk) 16:26, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- Great work! Yes, happy to do that. Thanks. Lugnuts 16:29, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Duplicate player
Hi again. Hoping you can help with this one. I found two players who have two pages, with slightly different spellings. They both point to the same player on Cricinfo. Sachin Jayawardena is correct, Sachin Jayawardene is wrong. Partially my fault as I miss-typed on the Tier B page and you used the red link to create the player page. Would you mind redirecting to the correctly spelled article? Bs1jac (talk) 20:20, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi. Done - that was straight-forward enough! Thanks. Lugnuts 06:43, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Chamari Atapattu
Am I correct in assuming that you removed the "International Centuries" section from this article because it was not in the same format as/a format similar to those in other articles such as Charlotte Edwards and Meg Lanning? Or is there another reason? Bahnfrend (talk) 12:27, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi. Not quite. Per WP:CRIC#STYLE - "swathes of numbers or lists of awards, empty of content or context, are not appropriate for Misplaced Pages, and that where sections for achievements/awards are included, they should be more than just a basic list." Similar lists for male cricketers have been removed. Thanks. Lugnuts 16:11, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry about the slow reply. Another editor has reinstated the section and list. The subject of the article is captain of her national team, and has scored six international centuries for that team. Although I accept that one century might not be enough to justify adding a list to an article about a player, what would you say is the minimum number, bearing in mind that women cricketers play fewer matches than men, especially Test matches (only one every second year worldwide, and Ellyse Perry scored a century in each of the last two). Also, what about Heather Knight, for example? I believe she is the only woman cricketer to have scored at least one century in all three international formats. Bahnfrend (talk) 13:35, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
- Maybe a bit of prose and a link to the women's century list would work better. Lugnuts 11:23, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Please, do not attempt to "own" the article Lu Mei and let other editors decide what to include as well, not only yourself
Considering your edits on the article Lu Mei, and the fact that you usually delete others' editions on that page, I invite you to read Misplaced Pages:Ownership of content, where it is stated that "All Misplaced Pages content—articles, categories, templates, and other types of pages—is edited collaboratively. No one, no matter how skilled, or how standing in the community, has the right to act as though they are the owner of a particular page". You rapidly writing and threatening on other editor's talk pages as soon as they include editions you dislike is another sign of attempting to own the article. You can't decied by yourself what the article includes, so I invite you to stop edit warring other's editions, you are the only one deleting them and a single person cannot decide what to include int he article. James343e (talk) 16:44, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- @James343e: It's not ownership, it's reverting an un-needed detail. It's a stub of one line that states the word "woman" TWICE. Who is confused that the subject is infact a woman? Lugnuts 16:46, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
- I take it from the silence it was you, and you alone, who was confused. "You rapidly writing and threatening on other editor's talk pages" How is this threatening? Maybe you should wind your neck in and WP:AGF. Thanks. Lugnuts 17:12, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Re: Refn
The refn template was one I found a long time back – from 2012, by the looks of it! – when the cycling teams were getting season articles. Very similar to what was on that cricket page, I had started with the particular format (ref group, note N) – but was coming into no end of problems when trying to stick a reference in. Was a bit of fluke coming across the refn template, but I have relied on it, and to some extent the efn template for a notelist, ever since. Anything to save a byte or a few!
Hope all's good with you too – looks like it's going to be a quieter sporting year of attendance for me this year; especially when there's pretty much going to be no major road cycling events in the UK this year. Normally would have had a few rounds of the Tour Series, and probably a day at the Tour de Yorkshire in the books by now. Who knows what the future holds, especially with the latter. Craig(talk) 15:47, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
- I've used the refn template in the past, but never thought of the idea of grouping together the same note together on the international cricket page. I've even used it with a ref in the template, if you still have problems with doing that. Took a lot of previews and sandbox edits before I figured it out!
- Yes, all good here thanks. Keeping one eye on the revised UCI calendar while international cricket slowly resumes. Although rain stoped play today. In Manchester. What are the chances...?! Lugnuts 16:33, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Cs-wolves: all roads lead to Poland! Lugnuts 08:05, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Pelham Henwood
Pelham Henwood - the one you've created the article for can't be the same as the one linked from List of Rhodesian representative cricketers, unless the year is wrong. Must be father and son or maybe uncle and nephew but the only reference I can find to the older one describes him as a racehorse trainer. Any ideas? Deb (talk) 18:23, 18 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Deb: Seems to be two different cricketers. The South African and the Zimbabwean. Cricket Archive doesn't show any direct relation between the two. And thanks for your expansions too! Lugnuts 18:34, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

Hey
Beyond My Ken and I (well, OK, maybe just me) were wondering how you were doing. Where I'm at, it's kind of hot. You write a lot about cricket, so I assume you're drinking gin and tonics--I added some limoncello to mine tonight, just for a change, but I kind of miss the bitterness that was masked by the sweet and sour. Take care, Drmies (talk) 01:10, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Drmies: - good morning! I'm fine, thanks for asking. Not too bad here, as long as the rain stays away. I do indeed write a lot about cricket, however, I don't drink! What could be better than spending five days watching the same match, and not knowing the outcome until about 30 minutes from the scheduled close of play.... Lugnuts 06:41, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hold that thought - there seems to be a doings afoot. Lugnuts 06:42, 21 July 2020 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind a bit of rain here; we need it. I sort of get that idea of excitement, though it is strange to me. (It brought this sudden reversal to mind--and I grew up loathing British soccer.) I used to listen to the BBC World Service on an old tube radio before going to sleep, I loved that sound, and they'd give cricket scores, and they were incomprehensible, of course. Anyway. I just came by to say hey, and thank you, and that I'm hoping that I can get "We Built This City" out of my head. Take care, Drmies (talk) 13:07, 21 July 2020 (UTC)

2016–17 Premier League Tournament Tier B
I have finished 2016–17 Premier League Tournament Tier B. That's the last of these back-dated seasons – beyond that there are at least 2 seasons where it is not in Cricinfo, although there are older seasons, but most domestic tournaments are not covered in detail prior to 2016 so that's enough. Feel I am a bit of an expert on Sri Lankan cricket now! I have created quite a few players that had red links for that season page, but perhaps you could do the last 10 or so? Bs1jac (talk) 11:38, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- Great work! Cricinfo seems to add older seasons on a random basis. I've done work on Pakistan's Quaid-e-Azam Trophy seasons, and that goes back about to 2004–05 when I last checked. Yes, will go through the red links. Lugnuts 11:43, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Bs1jac: those redlinks are now blue! Lugnuts 17:46, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
Vera Smith (figure skater)
Hi, hope this is the correct way to contact you! I'm new to editing Misplaced Pages. My sources for Vera Smith being nicknamed Vevi are as follows:
- The Olympedia page already listed as a reference on the existing article lists "Vevi" under "Nick/petnames"
- A blog post about the selection of the 1952 Winter Olympians with a scanned clipping from Skating magazine captioned "Vevi Smith" and a sentence in the body of the article referring to "Vera Virginia 'Vevi' Smith of the Toronto Skating Club"
- A newspaper photo of the 1952 Winter Olympians giving her name as "Vevi Smith"
- The Canadian Figure Skating Championships official results listing her as "Vevi Smith" (and therefore her medals from 1950-1954 on the Canadian Figure Skating Championships page appear under the name "Vevi Smith".)
I don't know which of these sources are considered reliable or notable enough to put as references, or how I should even cite a reference for a nickname (should I put a reference directly after the nickname itself?), but she clearly was called "Vevi" by at least some publications/media, and even competed under the name "Vevi Smith" in the Canadian Championships. (the fact that her Canadian Championships medals are under the name "Vevi Smith" is what made me think it was important enough to include the nickname on her page) Books2thesky (talk) 20:02, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Books2thesky: thanks for this post. My bad - I didn't see the nickname section on Olympedia! I've reveted that, as it's clearly in the source. Apologies, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. Lugnuts 06:40, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, and a note on the sources - they're all OK, apart from the blog. Thanks. Lugnuts 06:42, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Hasnain Khan
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Hasnain Khan, requesting that it be deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please see Misplaced Pages:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
- It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Misplaced Pages has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Misplaced Pages:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Proposed deletion of Michel Boulos
The article Michel Boulos has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
This subject is not at all notable. If this fencer is notable, then virtually all semi-professional fencers are, which is not the case.
While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Factfanatic1 (talk) 02:27, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Conflation
Hey Lugnuts again, about Shelley Steiner-Wetterberg: I think this time I have found an article that conflates two persons. There is Shelley Steiner (participated 1984 and 1988) and Shelley Wetterberg (now Shelley Charchuk, participated in 1992). In the past SR had conflated them as well, but they were separated to Shelley Steiner and Shelley Wetterberg. See also Steiner and Wetterberg in Olympedia for their latest findings; a few Google results support this position as well. As the article creator, can you please separate them into two articles? Thanks, MisterSynergy (talk) 11:28, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- @MisterSynergy: - interesting one to unpick! That's all sorted now - thanks again for the note. Lugnuts 12:14, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

- Thanks for the update, and thanks for your work on removing teams from infoboxes when franchise tournaments haven't started! Lugnuts 17:27, 7 August 2020 (UTC)
Sorry to interrupt, but
Would you please avoid making such edits . Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 15:04, 8 August 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, force of habit/OCD, when checking recent changes on my watchlist in checking for (possible) vandalism and aligning date formats at the same time. Lugnuts 16:06, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

Dates on Use DMY Dates
Please stop just arbitrarily updated the {{Use dmy dates}} with a newer date. There is no reason for it. You're just making a change to make a change. ThePersecuted (talk) 14:52, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- There's no reason to follow me around and revert these edits either. Lugnuts 15:29, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
- Must say that I'm agreeing with User:Materialscientist and User:ThePersecuted., so please stop it! Best regards Migrant (talk) 20:00, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
Tour de Pologne
Why did you change the source code from tour de pologne to tour of pologne? There is no such name for the tour "of" pologne.
1. https://en.wikipedia.org/Tour_de_Pologne 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Template:Tour_of_Pologne_winners&action=edit
???
- @Eemiratess: - I'm not sure what you mean - I've not edited either of those pages. Lugnuts 16:54, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- OK, I see I edited the Tour de Pologne, but more than five years ago! Lugnuts 16:55, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
I set the template name to Template: Tour de Pologne winners and you set Template: Tour of Pologne winners, why?
- I've not edited that template. Lugnuts 17:01, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
please report this problem to the moderator, because now the template has the wrong name of the event.
- I've not edited that template. That template, I have not edited. The templae, I have not edited. Edited that template, I have not. Lugnuts 17:05, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
Pakistani cricket team in England in 2020
Perhaps instead of jumping to conclusions about my edits you should actually look at the link I provided. The 'noun plus -ing' construction is lazy writing and should be avoided. I'm really tired of this apparent vendetta you have against me; it would be in both our best interests to assume that the other is working to improve the articles we both work on - for my part, I'm certainly not actively working to annoy you and I'm sure you could say the same, but you always seem to jump to a defensive stance whenever I dare question the constructiveness of your edits. Neither of us are perfect, we could both stand to learn something from each other, but that's not going to happen if you blindly revert my changes instead of examining why it is that I made them. – PeeJay 09:10, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- WP:PLUSING is a draft in someone's sandbox! Hardly worth citing now is it? "that's not going to happen if you blindly revert my changes" - that's a bit rich coming from you too! Lugnuts 09:15, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- I don't know if you know who User:Tony1 is, but the stuff they've written in their userspace is cited from WP:WIAFA as good advice about how to write better. You may not have ambitions of getting articles to FA standard, but ignore Tony1's advice at your peril. As I was saying, I suggest you step away from Misplaced Pages for a little while as you're clearly too het up to have a rational discussion over this. You've got it into your head that I'm some kind of vandal or troll when that plainly isn't the case. – PeeJay 09:21, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- If it was that good, it would be a policy/guide, but it's not. It holds as much weight as an essay. IE - none. Lugnuts 09:22, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Are you sure about that? Just because it's not in WPspace doesn't mean it's not good advice. – PeeJay 09:26, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yep, I'm sure. Written more than 10 years ago. Stale since then. Let me know when it gets upgraded to something better. Lugnuts 09:28, 11 August 2020 (UTC)

- @Materialscientist: - don't you think you are a bit WP:INVOLVED? The report even links to your conversation, above. Lugnuts 16:41, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Negative. I did't war with you and have no slightest interest in that. If you promise that you won't do that again (cosmetic edits) then I'll unblock (note that I do not see pings, but I'll try to check manually). Materialscientist (talk) 16:54, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
