The '''Bosnian language''' is one of the standard written versions of the ], used primarily in ]. The name for the language is fairly recent (from the early ]) and is a controversial issue. ] and ] in Bosnia and Herzegovina call their language ] and ].

The language is based on the Western variant of the Shtokavian dialect and uses both the ] and ] alphabet. However, the Latin alphabet is more commonly used.
