The village of Maroun al-Ras, as seen from the Israeli side of the border, near Avivim.

Maroun al-Ras (in Arabic: مارون الراس) is a Shiite Muslim village located in Southern Lebanon, roughly one kilometre (0.62 miles) from the Israeli border. It was the scene of a major confrontation between the Israeli Army and Hezbollah fighters during the 2006 Israeli-Lebanese conflict.

Maroun al-Ras is strategically important as it overlooks the Israeli moshav of Avivim, about 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) away. The village's elevation is 911 meters (2,989 feet).

During the 2006 Israeli-Lebanese conflict, the village was occupied by Israel, which claimed it was a stronghold for Hezbollah and one of the launching points for rocket attacks on northern Israel.

Six Israeli soldiers and tens of Hizbullah fighters were killed in the village, though Israel says it drove Hezbollah out.
