Som people advocate using the neologism islamophobe to describe someone with islamoophobia,
Islamaphobia has a number of causes. One of the current causes is the fear of that most Muslims are part of, or support, ]. Islamophobia is characterised by the belief that all Muslims are religious fanatics, and have violent tendencies towards non-Muslims. Islamophobia can also be seen as a form of Anti-Arab racism.
Most people in Western society, as well as most Islamists and many traditional Muslims, see Islam as fundamentally opposed in all ways to the enlightenment values, feminism, democracy and capitalism.
History
Ever since the Muslim expansion in the 8th century Islamophobia has been a part of European culture.
The September 11 Terrorist Attack has lead to an increase in Islamophobia throughout the Western world.
There are many organizations working to end Anti-Muslim bias among Israelis, as well as to end Anti-Semitic bias among Arabs. See the entry on projects working for peace among Israelis and Arabs.
