Imran Riaz Khan (Punjabi, Urdu: عمران ریاض خان) is a Pakistani journalist and YouTuber. He is known to be critical of the current government of Pakistan led by Shehbaz Sharif.
Journalism career
He started his career as a news anchor and journalist on the Express News channel. He started his YouTube channel in 2020 with the name "Imran Khan", which by April 2022 had more than 2.7 million subscribers.
Arrest
While entering Islamabad Toll Plaza on July 5, 2022, Riaz, who has said he was driving "to the federal capital to get bail from the Islamabad High Court, was arrested when Punjab Police number of SHOs, Rangers and Policemens surrounded his car and tried to arrest him. He didn’t showed any kind of resistance and gave arrest. Riaz later uploaded a video on YouTube that was pre-recorded for if he is killed or arrested unknownly, he will release the names of everyone who is behind the regime change operation in which foreign influence provoked a constitutional crisis, which ultimately ending with the PTI government of Imran Khan being ousted, when the former Prime Minister was removed from office via the "American conspiracy" against the sovereignty of Pakistan. Few Days before Riaz Arrest, He shared some tweets on his Twitter Account saying He is being Threatened by the Lahore Sector Commander ISI, Rashid. Later on, He uploaded a Video confronting General , requesting him to stop his Commander from threatening his Family. Ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan strongly protested the "arbitrary arrest" and called on the public as well as the media to "unite and stand up against this fascism. Former official Asad Umar stated PTI party workers and supporters will stage protests at press clubs throughout the country for what he said is an "attempt to suppress freedom of expression”.
