The death of Henry Kissinger ocurred in his home in Kent, Connecticut, on November 29, 2023, at the age of 100. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Maginnes Kissinger; two children, David and Elizabeth; and five grandchildren. His death was announced by Kissinger Associates, his consulting firm. Kissinger Associates announced that the funeral would be private, and would be followed by a memorial service in New York City.

Kissinger was a beloved figure in China and his death was widely mourned among both government figures and on the country's social media and state media. News Service stated in his obituary that "Today, this 'old friend of the Chinese people,' who had a sharp vision and a thorough understanding of world affairs, has completed his legendary life". Rolling Stone ran an obituary titled "Henry Kissinger, War Criminal Beloved by America's Ruling Class, Finally Dies" and the front page of HuffPost labeled him "The Beltway Butcher". Writing for The Intercept, Nick Turse described him as "a diplomat responsible for millions of deaths". Due to his controversial legacy, the announcement of Kissinger's death was met with widespread celebrations on social media.

International

China: Xi Jinping stated: "The Chinese people never forget their old friends, and Sino-U.S. relations will always be linked with the name of Henry Kissinger".

Russia: The Russian President Vladimir Putin mourned the death of Kissinger, saying in a telegram to Kissinger's widow Nancy that he was a "wise and farsighted statesman".

Israel: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he "had the privilege of meeting Dr. Kissinger on numerous occasions, the most recent being just two months ago in New York. Each meeting with him was not just a lesson in diplomacy but also a masterclass in statesmanship. European Union The European Council President Charles Michel called Kissinger a "strategist with attention to the smallest detail" and "A kind human and a brilliant mind who, over 100 years, shaped the of some of the most important events of the century."

Germany: The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated: "The world has lost a great diplomat".
