Donovan Sebrango (born January 12, 2002) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Playing career

While playing in minor hockey, Sebrango committed to playing for Boston University of the National Collegiate Athletic Association when he turned 18. However, he was heavily scouted by teams from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and renounced his commitment before being selected by the Kitchener Rangers of the in the second round, 40th overall in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection. Sebrango played two seasons with the Rangers, totalling 56 points with the club. The heading to HK Levice of the Slovak 2. Liga to resume his playing career during the pandemic.

Sebrango was selected by the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the third round, 63rd overall, of the 2020 NHL entry draft. He subsequently made his North American professional debut with the Grand Rapids Griffins on February 11, 2021, playing 31 games in the American Hockey League that season.

Sebrango was traded to the Ottawa Senators, his hometown team, on July 9, 2023, as part of the trade that sent Alex DeBrincat to the Red Wings. He would play parts of the next two seasons for the Belleville Senators before being recalled to Ottawa on November 26, 2024 to replace the injured Artem Zub.

Personal life

Sebrango is a citizen of both Canada and Cuba. His father, Eduardo, is a retired professional Cuban footballer who emigrated to Canada during the 1990s.
