Suspected sockpuppets

Sock farm dedicated to promote ChalermKwansatree/Chalermkwansatree/Chalermkwan Satri school (sound the same to me), and usually accompanied by a draft of a person attending the school that is being promoted.

Jimfbleak has blocked most of them, but we really need to check for any sleepers. 🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥 13:22, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

🔥YesI'mOnFire🔥, just blocked the last in the list above Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:18, 21 December 2024 (UTC)

  • I'm working on this, and there's a lot of accounts - but the tenor of the content additions suggest a misguided class assignment rather than a knowing attempt to disrupt. @YesI'mOnFire and Jimfbleak: has an attempt been made to communicate with any of these? Vanamonde93 (talk) 00:58, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
  • The accounts above are all  Confirmed to the same source; they are all using the same small set of IPs and devices within minutes of each other. My best guess is that this is a class of high-school students asked to write about themselves and their school. Obviously, this isn't appropriate, and given that we already have an article about the school, I'm not sure what this is supposed to achieve. The final account in the list has more experience (~200 edits) and perhaps there is a profitable dialogue to be had there. My immediate concern is with ensuring we don't unnecessarily preserve autobiographies of highschoolers. I have already deleted and suppressed a good many pages, and I will work through the rest, but I may not be able to finish today. Noting in case someone else comes along. Vanamonde93 since this seemed an obvious disruptive sock farm, no I didn't attempt dialogue, especially as there were so many. Your possible explanation makes some sense, though Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:27, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
  • Agree with Vanamonde that this appears to be a school assignment gone very wrong. Edits that have the personal information of students will be suppressed, the rest can be deleted. I've created a message that will be left on the user talk pages as I go through the edits, telling them what is wrong with the edits and that they can request an unblock when they agree not to write personal information or write about their school; the message recommends them to talk to whoever instructed them to write this information and links them to the appropriate section of WP:WWIN. Risker (talk) 06:34, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
  • Further noting that the majority of these accounts remain unblocked, and the messages left for them on their talk pages reflect this. I don't think we need to block them wholesale; I suspect the educational institution will get the message given that almost all of the involved accounts now have a message on their talk page. Promotional and personal information has been deleted or suppressed as appropriate. Unless Vanamonde has something to add, I think this can be closed. Risker (talk) 08:27, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
