It is a suspended monorail. The line opened on 3rd March 1970, and was the first monorail of the kind in Japan.
The trains traveles about 4.1 miles or 6.6 km every 7-8 minutes between Ofuna and Enoshima, making 6 stops. The average length of a single journey is 13-4 minutes.
As the line is located within commuting distance of Tokyo, it is important mean of transportation for the local residents.
