He is the son of Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, and brother of Princess Leia. In the movie The Empire Strikes Back the audience finds out that his father, whom Luke believed was killed by Darth Vader, was in fact Vader himself.
He is the main character of A New Hope, where he helps rescue Princess Leia, carrying the plans for the Death Star to the Rebel Alliance and leading the starfighter attack on it with the aid of "The Force".
In the Star Wars books "The Expanded Universe" Luke meets Mara Jade. He found his feelings and they were wed. They had a son called Ben Skywalker, named after Obi-Wan Kenobi.
