Manaan is a fictional planet in the Star Wars universe. It was last seen in the 2006 video game Star Wars: Empire at War as well as originally appearing in the 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The planet is completely covered in water, except for Ahto City, a large city made by the Selkath, the native species on Manaan.

It was once the galaxy's most important planet besides Coruscant for being the sole planet where kolto, a plant with natural healing properties, can be grown. Kolto harvesting and shipping is the planet's central industry. The Selkath exploit this resource financially selling it to both the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic and have threatened to destroy the source of kolto should either party attack them.

The planet features an oceanic swoop-racing course, several hotels and cantinas, both Sith and Republic embassies. It also has an underwater research station that is attacked by a giant firaxan shark that is defending the kolto and its young. It was once a member world of the Infinite Empire, and concealed a Rakatan Star Map in its watery depths.

During the Jedi Civil War, Darth Revan arrived at Manaan to find a Star Map hidden at the ocean floor deep under Ahto City. However, in order to reach it, the player (Revan) must either poison the giant firaxa, or destroy the Hrakert station secretly built by the Republic to harvest kolto near its source. If the player chooses to poison the shark, he is banished from Manaan forever(unless the player quickly, through dialogue options, blackmails the Manaan court, thus allowing him to stay in Manaan for the price of his silence), because the shark is believed to be the Progenitor, the kolto's keeper and source. So, kolto is no longer available, which causes the prices of healing supplies throughout the galaxy to rise.

However, the sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, assumes that kolto is still available, leading to a conclusion that either Revan did not destroy its source or the Republic was successful in its attempts to create synthetic kolto.

During the time of the Empire, Manaan was a wasteland. Mud covered isles and dirty rafts with savage beasts atop them were the only living things above water. They were enslaved, but Palpatine, recognizing the species, decided that they would be far better warriors. He assigned Darth Vader, his apprentice, to guide the Force sensitive Order of Shasa to become more of the Empire's weapons. In the game Knights Of the Old Republic, the player meets a Force sensitive young Selkath named Shasa, who is either redeemed by Revan or slaughtered depending on the player's actions. It's assumed that the order was named for her.

After Endor the Empire left Manaan.
