\'\'\'Linkin Park\'\'\' is a favorite of emos,16 year old girls, goths, 13 year old boys and Internet tough guys. The typical Linkin Park fan can be recognised by their artistically draped baggy clothes and sulky, depressed expression. However the latter observation goes for anything related to the angsty-teen movement.

They are relevant to LJ because thousands, if not millions, of LJ users love this band and are about to break.

Lyrical themes

Linkin Park specializes in angst-ridden music about gay shit like depression, self injury, suicide, being ignored, being misunderstood, being fucked over, being bummed over and generally the individual suffering in an uncaring, cruel and ridiculing society.

They first reached fame in 2000 with the single \"One Step Closer\", which has spawned at least 100 fanfictions and a new wave of \"emo-metallers\" who specialise in denying to themselves and the rest of the world that they listen to what\'s essentially a boy band for maladjusted youth, and in showing the world how depressed and misunderstood they are.

Musical Attributes

Linkin Park\'s painfully formulaic music generally consists of a simple synth melody, which then launches into one of the three sets of grungey, heavily-distorted powerchord or drop-D chord progression that they use for every song. That same chord progression repeats through the song, accompanied by the poppin\' fresh rizzap of Mike Shinoda or the wistfully dulcet prepubescent/ever-so-tormented screaming vocals of Chester Bennington.

Chester Bennington is the lead singer. He\'s known for screaming, being a rat-boy, homosexuality, his tattoos, and wearing his \"hipster\" emo glasses in a pathetic attempt to show indie credibility (see also Rivers cuomo). In recent years, Bennington\'s marriage failed primarily due to his extensive collection of gay porn.

Mike Shinoda

The \"rapper\" guy, who claims to be the founder and frontman of the band, but usually just stands there and does nothing due to his extreme lack of talent. He is also half-Japanese. Because of this, it has become an obligatory rule for all azns to have at least 2 Linkin Park albums stored on their iPods and listen to them no less than 50 times a day.

Mike Shinoda is also involved in a side-project cllaed Fort Minor, that was 30% less gay nu-metal whining, 50% more gay rap whining, but roughly the same amount of pure, unadulterated faggotry.
