WikiProject Paintball News edit
  • The term "paintball gun" is no longer to be used in any article: please change this wherever you see it! We must use the term paintball marker at all times from here on out. Keep up the good work. RavenStorm, Lead Coordinator
  • It has been strongly suggested by fellow member Three ways round that we add references and sources to our articles and make this our priority for now, as expansion and addition of articles has been slow of late. Go find an unsourced article and get some good references! Together we can make the WikiProject Paintball more authentic and encyclopedic. RavenStorm, Lead Coordinator
Category News edit
  • The player positions pages have been renamed according to game type to be more accurate.
  • Two more subcategories have been created: Woodsball, and Speedball. If any new pages are created that are related to these, please use their respective category tags instead of ]. Thanks!
Priority Tasks edit
1. Find sources for all articles to remove original research issues. Resist the urge to simply enter new information based on your own playing experience (this applies especially to strategy and role based articles).
2. Pages about paintball markers, unless very notable and well sourced, should be either merged back into the main company's page - or a page detailing the company's series of products. Having a single page for each marker model is too unwieldly and yields a lot of stubs.
3. Top priority articles should reach at least C class.

Woodsball Rifleman and Scout

Chances are, If you're reading this section, you were directed here by my post on the Woodsball rifleman or Woodsball scout talk page. On the wikiproject home page, we are instructed to follow the example set by the marksman article. this page is very well written. I would like to see some of that reflected in the other position pages. If you have anything to add, please help. J-stan 16:19, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

User talk:Minestrone Soup/Knightly order

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on User talk:Minestrone Soup/Knightly order, by Minestrone Soup, another Misplaced Pages user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because User talk:Minestrone Soup/Knightly order is pure vandalism; this includes redirects created during cleanup of page move vandalism.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting User talk:Minestrone Soup/Knightly order, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate User talk:Minestrone Soup/Knightly order itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 21:20, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Editor review

I reviewed you. Shalom 05:53, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

My signature

Hi; I have no wish to give offence, but my signature is bright red with the "talk" in black, and several editors have commented on the brightness and harmony of the colour combination. Do you have a software problem?--Anthony.bradbury 23:07, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Ok, I can see the difference now. didn't catch the talk part. That's actually pretty cool! J-stan 23:09, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

emotive

FYI "emotive" is a word. It's a synonym of "emotional, but is used almost exclusively to describe art and music (as far as I know) to denote a particularly emotional/emotive piece, when "emotional" isn't quite the right word. Emotive gives a sense of process (like the words "constructive" or "deductive" do), whereas emotional makes it sound less like a process and more like a mood. But in the context of the article, "emotional" is better, since it's talking about somebody's mood! That's my random trivia FYI for the day. See you 'round. --Cheeser1 03:54, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Ok I see now. I think if we really put in some effort, We can really improve the emo article. It's a matter of hard work, and a lot of reverting vandalism. J-stan 15:13, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Hi J-stan. Thank you for your support and kind words in my RfA, which passed with 95 support, 1 oppose, and 1 neutral !votes. It means a lot to me to have your individual support and the collective support of so many others. I truly will strive to carry myself at a level representing the trust bestowed in me as I use the mop to address the never-ending drips of discontent in need of caretaker assistance.

My RFA

Hi J-stan, just a quick note to say thanks for participating my request for adminship. It was successful and I now have some shiny new buttons. If I can ever be of help, please let me know. Happy editing, mattbr 09:37, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Alright! Happy administrating! J-stan 15:36, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Don't apologize

Don't apologize for being humorous. :) Acalamari 22:44, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I was just worried I had offended you because it appeared other users had pestered you about it. J-stan 22:46, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Nah; a message like that wouldn't offend me. :) Acalamari 23:02, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Cool. J-stan 23:03, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

vandalism task force

Noticed your comment on the CVU talk page (which I moved to the bottom cause that is where new sections go.) I read your idea and was wondering what exactly it would be? Oysterguitarst 07:38, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

I think it could work. Oysterguitarst 19:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Thank you for your support in my recent RfA. However, it was unsuccessful. I am in no way disheartened, and I will hopefully succeed in a month or two. If you have any further suggestions or comments, feel free to drop me a line on my talk page, and I will be happy to respond. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 02:32, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

!vote

Just to reply to your question at WT:RFA, "!vote" is a term that people use to get around the fact that Misplaced Pages is said to be based on consensus rather than voting. Editors don't want to be told this every time they use the word. It means "not a vote", but is usually used in contexts where the word "vote" fits the situation well - like RFA, where we say consensus supports promoting a new admin, even though "consensus" usually just means "supermajority". Dekimasuよ! 03:42, 15 July 2007 (UTC) I see. Thanks!J-stan 14:42, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Paintball strategy

Sorry it's been a while, I spent all last week moving 4 states north. Anyway, looks like the paintball strategy page was deleted. --Milton 17:26, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Ok. I was interested because there was the possibility of interwiki-ing. J-stan 17:28, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Re:Judgement

Thanks for the comments. I look forward to being renominated, but not not today, and not now. Stay safe, and again thanks for the kind words. TomStar81 (Talk) 22:38, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Sure thing. Whenever you're ready, my offer to nominate you still stands. J-stan 01:43, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

About comments made earlier on CVU talk page

Hi, I'm really flattered about the suggestion of joining the project. I've always considered devoting more of my time to the fight against vandalism. But truth be told I'm still not that good at using Misplaced Pages even though I've made my own start class article. Plus I'm worried about the reprisal attention from vandals. Although I will say it would be great if there was somewhere informants could go and just give a name and and an article and forget about it, safe in the knowledge an anti-vandal will take care of it. Do you know of any such places Ryan4314 05:12, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Emo (slang)

Ah, no problem. I used to care about that page (maybe a year ago?). --emc 21:11, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Twinkle

Hi Stan, I just installed Twinkle, is there anywhere I can test it though? Ryan4314 00:38, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Adminship

I have done some thinking about this and reached an interesting conclusion: since I resigned my rfa to end the edit war there and keep our contributers here we (by which I mean wikipedia) never resolved the issue of whether or not I should be admin here. Now that everyone has had a chance to distance themselves from my original rfa and the fiasco that ensued this would likely be a good time to reopen the issue and determine with certainty whether or not I meet admin requirements now. In light of this I think the time is right to take you up on your offer to renominate me for adminship so we can see what the community has to say without the added circus sideshow. If I pass this time then so be it, if I fail then I will have lots of suggestions for improvement. At the same time I would like to thank you for your offer to renominate me; I apreciate it very much. TomStar81 (Talk) 00:55, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, its up; now the question is whether or not it will pass. On an unrelated note, I notice you now have a discussion box with a very familar design. Just in case in were curious, you are the second person to have borrowed the design and modified it for their own ends :) TomStar81 (Talk) 03:27, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Thank you for participating in My RfA which closed successfully. I am honored and truly more than a little humbled by the support of so many members of the community. It's more than a bit of a lift to see comments on my behalf by so many people that I respect. I'll do my best to not disappoint you or the community.

On a personal note, I'd particularly like to thank you for your encouraging words there. - Philippe | Talk 07:23, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Emo (Slang)

Since Cheeser1 and emc can't come to a consensus. I have decided to leave cause I do not want to take part in a argument over something so small. Oysterguitarist 18:49, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
