CFB Comox (Canadian Forces Base Comox) is British Columbia's primary military air installation. It was established during World War II and has grown exponentially since then. It is home to the search and rescue operations for the west coast of Canada. The complex also serves as an airport for commercial flights (callsign YVQ) to Vancouver, Calgary, and elsewhere. Every second year the base has an Airshow to celebrate Armed Forces Day. The base is a primary employer in the Comox Valley.
