- If you have copied text to which you own the copyright: Please read the guide to donating your own copyrighted material to Misplaced Pages. Note that, in addition to copyright requirements, the article must still comply with notability guidelines, advertising prohibition and avoid conflicts of interest.
- If you have been given permission to reuse someone else's text: Please read the guide to requesting and formalizing permission to use copyrighted works on Misplaced Pages. As above, the article must still comply with notability guidelines, advertising prohibition and avoid conflicts of interest.
- If you were attempting to rename an article or create a disambiguation page: Compliance with the GFDL requires that the article be actually moved rather than copied with cut-and-paste to preserve editing history. Please tag the new copy with
{{db-move}}
and an administrator will be able to assist you.
- If the original source was itself a copy of Misplaced Pages text: Reusing the text is probably okay, but make sure you link back to the original article to comply with the GFDL. If the site CSBot found is a Misplaced Pages mirror, you may want to notify me so I can add it to the list for the future.
- If the original source is in the public domain: Reusing the text is okay, but you almost certainly want to attribute it with an appropriate template (such as
{{DANFS}}
or{{1911}}
); this will cause CSBot to leave the article alone.- If you did attribute it with an appropriate template, but it was still flagged as a copyvio, then it's probable the bot does not know the template you have used. You might want to tell me on this page so I can add it to the list.
Otherwise, remember that text found on other web pages is copyrighted by default. Unless there is an explicit permission on the page (or site) allowing reuse without conditions (or under the GFDL) you can not use that text in a Misplaced Pages article!
Thank you!

Lane Bryant
Since Lane Bryant, Inc. and Lena Himmelstein Bryant Malsin are two seperate entities, I split the page. I also added more information from other sources (such as the census). betselu 2-4-08

Nabari no Ou
Coren, the contents of the Nabari no Ou page in Misplaced Pages does not include a substantial copy of: http://www.xanadu-dreams.net/timcampi.html Your bot should take this into consideration.

Cathal Twomey
I recently editted the summary of Finding the Fox, which was at that time part of the aricle on the Shapeshifter series. When I had completed my editting, I realised that the summary was far too long not to be in an article of its own. I therefore created one. However, before I could remove the version of the summary from the Shapeshifter article, I recieved a complaint from Coren that my summary appeared to be a copy of the Shapeshifter article. I have since removed the summary from the Shapeshifter article, and the only version of it now exists in the Finding the Fox article. I apologise for any inconvenience I may have caused. help
Hello. As you may know I was blocked for 2 weeks by the admin Alex Bakharev for allegedly having a socket puppet called Neptunes. The block is over now, but Alex still hasn't clarify his decision. I think i have the right to see a solid evidence, 'user check' or any sort of evidence. I have contacted Alex several times but i see no sign of respond towards revealing his evidence. so can you please get envolved as a third party. I know for sure that Neptunes2007 is another user. so I am 100% sure that there is something wrong with the decision. Best regards --Aziz1005 (talk) 13:08, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- Iam still waiting for your reply. thanks --Aziz1005 (talk) 12:48, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm uncertain how, exactly, you expect me to help? — Coren 13:37, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Do I have the right to know why I was blocked and what kind of abuse has happened? You as a third party can contact Alex and ask him to justify or clarify his decision. So far he does not want to listen unless another admin get involved. So can you conact him to reveal his evidence or ask him to at least give me one example of an abusive contribution i have done. Thanks --Aziz1005 (talk) 15:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Ali Pabrai
I was instructed to create a biography page by Mr. Pabrai for him on wikipedia and because he has the same information on his own website, I am unable to post his bio here. How can I post his bio without infringing?

New GFDL site
I am working Misplaced Pages:Copyright problems/2008 April 3/Articles and found CorenSearchBot tagged Kevin Dilmore which is a copy and paste from http://startrek.wikia.com/Kevin_Dilmore which has a GNU Free Documentation License. I am guessing you have list someplace to add this to? Jeepday (talk) 02:30, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I think I will let you do the update this time. Jeepday (talk) 02:37, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- This one as well http://starwars.wikia.com/Main_Page which I beleive would be added as \ .wikia.com/ or as \ .?wikia.com/, But I hesitate to test on a system that I don't have control of. Jeepday (talk) 02:52, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'll add both. For the record, both were technically correct, but a little overgenerous: they would catch all wikia sites (which may actually be the right thing— do all Wikia sites use the GDFL?) — Coren 04:17, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

- Yep http://www.wikia.com/About_Wikia Wikia was founded by Jimmy Wales and Angela Beesley in 2004. Jeepday (talk) 04:41, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- all the Wikia are GFDL - http://www.wikia.com/Terms_of_use Any use you make of content hosted by Wikia, Inc. must be in line with the terms of that wiki's license. Most Wikia are available under the GNU Free Documentation License. Memory Alpha and a few of our other sites are available under a Creative Commons license. Any content you upload or post to any Wikia, Inc. wiki must be compatible with the relevant license (for example, the GFDL for any Wikia, or the relevant CC license for other wikis) I updated User:CorenSearchBot/exclude based on your example. Template question
Hiya, I was admiring the template that you'd placed at Talk:John Buscema awhile back. Could you tell me if that was an expanded version of an existing template? Or did you massage something else to make the message? I'd like to provide something like that for an example at some discussions we're having at the WP:WORKGROUP wiki, and before I go and make my own, it's much easier if I can just copy somebody else's! :) Thanks, Elonka 09:37, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- I used Template:User article ban arb, which used to look a lot like Template:User article ban. It's been tweaked to be more distinctive a bit ago, but you can grab the older version (around Dec 2007) from the history. — Coren 12:36, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Fermanagh Trust
I'm writing to ask that you remove the tag from the article that has been added to Fermanagh Trust. We give permission to use this text which was copied from our website www.fermanaghtrust.org. CorenSearchBot
I'm an admin at nowiki, and I'm wondering if it is possible to use this bot on another language? Perhaps even run it from an other machine and against another web search engine? By using the web search engine no:Sesam we could scan norwegian newspapers which otherwise isn't indexed. Jeblad (talk) 15:16, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- It should be fairly easy to adapt; the search function is pretty well isolated. Are you looking for the source only or for someone to run it? — Coren 17:41, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
Mey
Hello, the article Mey has been split in 2 articles. The content of Mey (instrument) was temporarily a copy of Mey. — M-le-mot-dit (T) 18:31, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
GNU Nana copyright violation?
The GNU Nana does use bits of the text out of the GNU Nana homepage at www.gnu.org. Since nana is available under either GPL or BSD style licenses I think this is fine but of course I may have failed in the intelligence test. Do we need to get the FSF to release under the GFDL?
Amendment: sorry, had a proper look at the GFDL license, its not compatible with the GPL, Debian don't like it, oh my go its full of stars.

Travb block
Coren, can you confirm something for me? I was just looking through the diffs when you re-blocked; which diffs are the really problematic ones? (I'm saying this in the light of the recent fiasco with MONGO, obviously). Technically, you are wheel warring. Black Kite 23:17, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay. Stanley Cup. :-) In particular, is problematic, so is the edit summary of . Given the recent arbcom ruling and the necessity of having no tolerance in that editing area, the block is entirely warranted— mind you I agree totally that WMC should not have done so himself and brought it to arbitration enforcement instead. — Coren 00:48, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, fair enough - I just wanted to check as it's a delicate area :) Thanks, Black Kite 08:39, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Coren, I understand your point but is it normal block a person without any previous warning?--Pokipsy76 (talk) 15:39, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Coren, I guess you are now a guest on my page. Yeaaaa. As you know from my edits on the September 11th arbcom have documented the selective use of administrative tools, so I don't hold anything against you personally.
- Did you personally warn Connoley of his abuse of administrative powers?
- Did you boot the other editor who was involved in this revert war?
- Did you know that Connoley removed the protection of the page by another admin?
- I am wondering, you quickly warned me of quoting JzG's filthy mouth, where were you, where were any of you admins, when JzG told countless editors to f*** off? I know, I saw the ANI's: they were defending Jzg. Jzg can say it with impunity, but not only can I not say it, I get warned for quoting it. Of course, JzG is not alone. I have seen many admins block other users for incivility and then turn around and say something twenty times worse.
- In regards to the two edit differences you mention as the reason for re-banning me:
- "restored large scale deletions which border on vandalism by POV editors whose only contribution to this article has been deleting large sections they personally disagree with. retained Afd tag"
- I have been editing this page longer than any editor. What I explain above is exactly what happens.
- If this entry were a book, and someone where to come along and rip out the majority of the refrenced pages, this would be considered vandalism, but on wikipedia its not.
- Also if these editors deleted large sections of prominent pages, like the World War 2, page, like they do now with American terrorism, they would have been banned long ago. But since it is an unpopular topic, no one cares.
- So keep on watching my page. I am sure you can come up with other reasons to boot me. I once had some ***** go through months of my edits and get me indefinetly booted. If someone digs hard enough they can find a reason to boot practically anyone, trust me I have dug myself to get editors booted.
- By the way, Tbeatty, the guy I was arguing with, has been accused by a turncoat of working offline with a certain group of editors to delete anything against the official 9/11 account and negative of the US. Further, Mongo and Tbeatty recently called me a troll and said my edits on the 9/11 arbcom were crap, saying they should get rid of me. No one warned or sanctioned them.
- After three painful years I have came to the conclusion that the only constant on Misplaced Pages is hypocricy.

Humanitarian League
Hi, your bot sent an automated message stating that part of an article I have started is a copy, the section I think it has picked up on is the part (which I have now deleted, for now, until I hear from you) is the part that sets out the organisatons OFFICIAL WRITTEN AIMS (their core manifesto) specifically, I don't believe that I can embelish these, they should stay as they were orginally written down by the League. See Aims and Objects etc. these should be as they were first laid out as reproduced in their original form by that webside also. What do you think? Will await your reply. Thank you. Hi Coren, can CorenSearchBot deal with non-Latin script such as Arabic? Would you like to run it on ar wp if I were to look after its edits and answer questions there? Or will the code be available soon? Санта Клаус (talk) 21:07, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
