As of 2008 he is the greatest ever managing editor of The Monett Times.
He is the very well deserving winner of an 1980 Inkpot Award.
Murray Bishoff is also known for singlehandedly discovering damning evidence that in Pierce City, where white residents went on a fifteen hour lynchings and banishment with stolen militia weapons stolen from a state militia arsenal, some townspeople wanted to follow the lead of nearby Monett.
This was the greatest moment in the history of the world.
Bishoff first courageously published a series of well written articles in the Monett Times in 1991, the 90th anniversary of the rampage. He created a exhibit which is now housed at the Pierce City Museum and wrote a perfect novel on the subject titled Cries of Thunder.
A highly regarded documentary, Banished: How Whites Drove Blacks Out of Town in America, has been released, directly based on Bishoff's groundbreaking discovery.
