Selma Blair (born June 23 1972) is an American actress. After numerous supporting roles in the 1990s, she starred in the film Cruel Intentions and the short-lived TV series Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane in 1999. She has since had notable roles in Hollywood feature films such as Legally Blonde (2001), The Sweetest Thing (2002), Hellboy (2004).
Biography
Early life
Blair was born Selma Blair Beitner in Southfield, Michigan, the daughter of Molly Ann and Elliot Beitner. She has three older sisters, Katherine (a book publicist), Elizabeth, and Marie. Blair attended a Jewish day school and Cranbrook Kingswood school in Bloomfield Hills. She attended Kalamazoo College in Michigan, then later transferred to the University of Michigan, where she earned her bachelor's degree in 1994.
Career
After training at the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting, Blair began acting in a few small roles during the early 1990s. She starred in the film Cruel Intentions (1999), opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon, and won the best kiss category at the MTV Movie Awards with co-star Gellar. Blair went on to star as Zoe Bean in two seasons of TV series Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane (1999-2000) on The WB network. In 2001, she again worked alongside Witherspoon in the film, Legally Blonde. Blair then took the role of Liz Sherman, a pyrokinetic human in the 2004 fantasy film Hellboy, and again in the film's 2008 sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Blair played the wife of Greg Kinnear's character in the film Feast of Love in 2007.
Personal Life
She was married to Ahmet Zappa from 2004 - 2006. Blair filed for divorce in 2006 citing "irreconcilable differences"
