WIXC is the callsign for Wixie 1060, an AM classic country music radio station licensed to Titusville, Florida, United States. It broadcasts at a medium-wave frequency of 1060 kHz. It is owned by Genesis Communications. It broadcasts from a 50 kW transmitter in Titusville, Florida, though the transmitter power is reduced to 17 kw during critical hours and further reduced in power overnight to 5 kW. Although its primary service area is Melbourne, its main studio and transmitter are in Mims, which is north of Titusville. The service area of the station is the entire county of Brevard during the day and from northern Viera to Mims overnight. A remote studio and sales office is located in the Suntree area of Melbourne, Florida.
The WIXC call sign was previously used by FM 97.3 in Bay City, Michigan, now WMJO-FM.
WIXC was the Space Coast affiliate for ESPN Radio through July 31, 2008. They were are also the local affiliate for the Tampa Bay Rays games, as well as NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races. WIXC switched from its previous sportstalk format to primarily classic country music on August 1st 2008 after an LMA, or Local marketing agreement, with Whiskey River Broadcasting took effect. Whiskey River Broadcasting, run by long-time local radio personality Ted Turner, is now responsible for the station's programming. WIXC continues to air a significant amount of sports content. It is the Space Coast affiliate for the Jacksonville Jaguars football team and the Florida State Seminoles. The station carries Monday Night Football from the Westwood One network and also broadcasts select high school football games in Brevard County. Further live programming can be heard during the Ted Turner Morning Show from 6am - 10am Monday through Friday and during the Greg Sherlock Show from 4pm - 7pm.
