- Trams (not metrolink) - one ran up Radcliffe New Road from Radcliffe
- Cinemas - hard to believe now, but there were at least two
- Sport - cricket ground south of All Saints Church, and Golf Course between south end of Stand Lane and Dales Lane. Its still there but reduced in size. Similarly, Whitefield Golf Club, entrance on Higher Lane
