The Yousafzai is the smallest ethnic Afghan/Pashtun tribe and largest in NWFP of Pakistan. Yousafzai translates into English as "The Sons of Joseph": Yousaf = Joseph, zai = son of. Their spoken langagues is Pashto. The Yousefzai are considered to speak the purest form of Pashto. Other spellings include:

  • Euzefzai
  • Yusefzai
  • Yosefzai
  • Yousefzai

The majority of The Yousafzai reside in Pakistan, in the areas of mardan malakand and Swabi.
