Peace

Hello Niteshift. I get the impression that you dislike me. I am sorry you feel this way. Perhaps we can learn to work together by working on a little article together? Ideas? Sport? Geography? Biography? Highway? User F203 (talk) 17:39, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

  • I have nothing against you personally. I just feel that you are hell-bent on getting the Janke thing in no matter where you have to put it. I'd be happy to work on an article with you. Give me a couple of days to think about what one looks like a good candidate. Niteshift36 (talk) 03:59, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Maybe because it's an odd way to look at fairness. I fully see why the Janke article is hated. Too goofy, too news related. I am fine with seeing it die. However, the rules seem to point to redirect (redirect rules say it's for 1 item people). As far as the city article, the Janke thing is the biggest thing that happened to the town as we know. However, if the town has other history (and I'm sure it has, it's just undiscovered by us), the Janke item will become obscure. The difference is some assume it is obscure and I want to do the legwork to find other more important items and not make that assumption. When there are more pertinent items, you will see that I will fully support removal of the Janke item from the city's article. I hope my thoughts are more clear to you now. Sean Hannity

Greetings, Niteshift! I've asked an admin whom I respect greatly to weigh in on the whole Sean Hannity/waterboarding/sock puppet issue. Though he and I have collaborated on several articles in the past, we come from very distinct worldviews. As a self-described conservative Christian, he's actually probably more inclined to side with you, although I trust him completely to strive for a neutral point of view. (Not saying you don't... but again, I've worked with him many times.) Mainly, I'm hoping he can get to the bottom of the issue of sockpuppets and SPA's thwarting our efforts at consensus building. Looking forward to working with him, and you! -- JeffBillman (talk) 23:52, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Please don't think that I've supported the inclusion of the waterboarding statement because I want to see criticism of him for the sake of criticism — I believe that it's better included as an example of his political views on a touchy subject. And your userboxes — see mine if you've not already looked. I'm not suspecting you of being a staffer working with a hidden POV :-) Nyttend (talk) 13:19, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
  • After giving the matter quite a bit of thought, I decided I agree with you on the Hal Turner issue. It's just not notable to an article on Sean Hannity. Indeed, about all that is notable about Hannity's days at WABC is that which already appears in the article-- and I say that as a fan of Hannity since shortly before his leaving WGST. (Yes, really! A non-traditional Libertarian who is a fan of a faithful Catholic conservative. Whodda thunk it? ;-) ) What worries me, though, is how the article has been redacted to the point that it does now seem to be askew of NPOV. And although the POV I think it now represents is not my own, that does not make it any more worrisome to me than if it had taken a POV that more closely matches my own. Cheers! -- JeffBillman (talk) 00:49, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

Previous AfD nomination & discussion of A Knight in the Congo

Hi Niteshift36,

You participated in the deletion discussions of two articles I originated. The first, on Hezekiah M. Washburn, I don't yet have the references to rewrite. I do intend to rewrite it in my sandbox and I intend to include numerous secondary sources, if I can find them. Once I've written it, might I be able to get you to take a peek at it to make sure it won't be renominated to AfD?

In reference to the second, Rev. Washburn's autobiography, A Knight in the Congo, the final version of the article before deletion was an exact duplicate of entry in a Webster book of some sort (noted in the delete edit summary). I can assure you that the first version of the article was crafted by hand by me. I was wondering if you know how to get to the histories of deleted articles so that I can see who pasted over the original work with plagiarized work so that I can then go through their change list and review their contributions for other plagiarisms.

(When I rewrite the Rev. Washburn article with references, I intend to merge mentions of the book into the Rev. Washburn article and then make the A Knight in the Congo dead link into a redirect to Rev. Washburn).

I'll take the previous AfD process on both articles as constructive criticism... :-)

Thanks, --Dygituljunky (talk) 18:15, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Wikiquette alert notification

Hello, Niteshift36. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Misplaced Pages:Wikiquette alerts regarding continued personal attacks & accusations of sockpuppetry / also edit warring. The discussion is about the topic Sean Hannity. Thank you.Stargnoc (talk) 01:19, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Okay, so you say Daedalus969 was the user who reported FuriousJorge, that's fine.Stargnoc (talk) 01:24, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

  • I don't "say" so, it is a FACT. It can be PROVEN. Get your facts straight before you start shooting off your mouth. Niteshift36 (talk) 01:33, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
    • I didn't take the time to independently verify whether Daedalus969 was the user and I don't like to state things as fact without verifying them myself. It wasn't meant as a slight to you.Stargnoc (talk) 01:48, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
  • Well you DID state, as fact, something that you hadn't verified. You stated, as FACT, that I got him banned. You never bothered to research who initiated it. Even the section on his talk page that you commented on should have led you to see that Daedulus did it, not me. And it was taken as a slight by me. You made the false allegation in more than one location. I count 3 so far. Niteshift36 (talk) 01:53, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
  • Any correction now is irrelevant because your sarcasm betrays you. Niteshift36 (talk) 14:32, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Editing Tips

This is a section in the newsletter devoted to help familiarize project members with the Manual of Style and general editing tips.

  1. Avoid using dirtsheets as sources. Adhere to WP:RS when adding information with a source to articles. For a list of reliable and unreliable wrestling-related sources see Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Style guide#Sources.
  2. Please remember that fair use images and media can be only be used if no free equivalent is available or could be created. Fair use images uploaded when a free equivalent exists will be deleted.
  3. Trivia sections are discouraged in wikipedia articles. Information from such sections, if notable, should be merged into the main body of the article.
  4. Avoid adding statements that will date quickly, for example "soon" and "now".
  5. When adding headers to articles, do not add wikilinks to them and only capitalize the first letter of the first word and any proper nouns.
