The name Niall is Irish. Its origin is in the Celtic language with variants found in both Scotland and Ireland. Niall is an old Celtic name meaning, "champion" but can also translate as "cloud," or "vehement." It may also be derived from "Njall", an old Norse name, meaning "wise" or "supernatural".
