It is the capital of the province of Sindh and the largest settlement in Pakistan with 8.5m people. It is also the commercial centre of the country with a high quality port and airport.
The founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born and buried in Karachi.
Grew from an 18th century village called Kalachi-jo-Kun.
