Term
The term tailgate in American English almost exclusively refers to the board or gate at the back of a pickup truck that is hinged at the bottom (and not the top) and is opened down (and not up). Hatch, hatchback and liftgate, among others, are terms used in American English to refer to a "door" at the back of a vehicle hinged at the top and opens to the top. 141.113.85.21 10:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Tailgate → Tailgate (automotive) — A short reason for page name change. User:75.142.152.104 13:54, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose this "Transformers"-editing-IP-user never gives a reason, never answers their talk page, and so should be automatically refused. 70.29.210.155 (talk) 04:02, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose - No rationale given for move, and it shouldn't be moved. An automotive tailgate seems to me to be the most common subject for the term. --Sable232 (talk) 21:41, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
