Houthoff Buruma is one of the largest law firms in the Netherlands. In the year 2008, it was ranked the largest law firm in Netherlands in terms of revenues, and fourth largest in terms of number of advisors. The firm is the 2003 Big Brother Award winner. In 2006, the firm won the "Application of the Year" award from Netherlands-based VIP Magazine. In 2009, the firm was awarded the "Insurance and Insurance Law Firm of the Year" award at the ACQ Law Awards ceremony. In 2010, in the Global Pensions Awards ceremony, the firm won the "Law Firm of the Year" award. It was also awarded the award for being the "Best Real Estate Team" in the World Finance 2010 Legal Awards.
