- American black bear
- Asiatic black bear
- Brown bear
- Giant panda
- Grizzly bear
- Polar bear
- Sloth bear
- Spectacled bear
- Sun bear
There has been much discussion as to whether the giant panda belongs in the bear or raccoon family. The pandas are closely related to both. Recent DNA analysis seems to indicate that the giant panda is closer related to the bear and the red panda is more closely related to the raccoon.
