The term Linux most strictly refers to the Linux kernel, a program written by Finnish programmer Linus Torvalds which forms the core of the Linux operating system (also called GNU/Linux). Commonly it is used to refer to any of various Linux distributions. The official logo of Linux is Tux the penguin.
