Moni Aizik is an Israeli born martial artist. He has been a practitioner of Jujutsu and Judo for most of his life. He is however a controversial person having numerous unproven claims about his military career as a special forces commando and being the inventor of Commando Krav Maga. CKM is Aizik's own creation and bears no relation with Krav Maga. Aizik has been involved in several lawsuits and continues to be a controversial and criticized member of the martial arts community.

Biography

Moni started training in Jiu Jitsu and Judo at the age of 8 under Opa Schutte. Aizik has continued to train in Judo and Jujutsu throughout his life. However he has been involved in a number of controversies having been accused of being a liar and a fraud with regards to his military career and Krav Maga experience. He has made numerous claims that he is a former IDF special forces commando and instructor and that he invented the Commando Krav Maga fighting system. There is however no evidence to back up his various claims and he has subsequently been sued by more than one party. Commando Krav Maga bears no relation to Imi Lichntenfeld's Krav Maga and is not the official fighting system of IDF personal as Aizik has claimed.

Controversial claims assessment

On October 28, 2008, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA: the self-regulatory organisation of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom) gave an assessment concerning Aizik's claims about his military duty.

The Central London School of Krav Maga challenged the claims in the advertising of Commando Krav Maga that Aizik was an "Ex-Israeli Special Forces Commando" and a "Counter Terrorism Expert". The British Code of Advertising Practice clause 3.1 states that advertisers must hold evidence before making claims.

Commando Krav Maga said that Aizik's military experience and counter terrorism expertise were considered classified by the Israeli military. Commando Krav Maga claimed that making the information public would break the military code of conduct.

The ASA assessed that the ad breached CAP Code clauses 3.1 (Substantiation) and 7.1 (Truthfulness). It directed that the ad must not appear in its current form, and that Commando Krav Maga must not repeat the claims.
