The 2013 World Series will be the 109th edition of Major League Baseball's championship series. The best-of-seven playoff will be played between the champions of the National League and the American League. The American League champion will have home field advantage for the series, based on their win in the All-Star Game at Citi Field in Queens, New York, on July 16.
The Series is tentatively set to begin on Wednesday, October 23, with Game 7 scheduled no later than October 31, barring weather delays.
Fox will televise the series in the United States, with Joe Buck calling play-by-play and Tim McCarver handling color commentary. This will be McCarver's final World Series, as he announced the he will retire after the 2013 season.
