In 1976 Mr. Yunus founded the Grameen Bank, a financial cooperative whose aim is to make credit available to the very poor. Mr. Yunus is its managing director.
Awards
Mr. Yunus is the 2004 winner of The Economist newspaper's Prize for social and economic innovation.
