Background
Ntv7 differs from other Malaysian broadcasters in being a media brand rather than just a television station. Programmes are treated as products under relevant brands - more commonly referred to as programming belts, and are managed by a team of brand managers.
Under the appointment-based concept, factors such as who watches what and when define when a television programme is slotted in the television schedule. The station, which broadcasts on the UHF frequency band, offers a combination of Malaysian, English and Chinese television programmes, produced locally as well as some from overseas.
Offering a variety and entertainment television programmes, ntv7's line-up includes drama, situation comedy, music and variety show, reality show, lifestyle, leisure, hobby and travel, game show, anime and movies. There are also news bulletins in English called as "NTV7 News: English News" on daily nightlife (every day) at 20:00 until 20:30 MST, Chinese called as "NTV7 新聞: 華語新聞" on daily afternoon (every day) at 17:30 until 18:00 MST, "NTV7 新聞: 晚間新聞" on daily late night (every day) at 22:30 until 23:00 MST and "NTV7 最後新聞: 環球透視" on weekday midnight (every Monday to Friday) at 00:00 until 00:30 MST called as "直播" which rerun telecast was taping recorded on every Tuesday to Saturday morning at 07:30 until 08:00 MST called as "重播" and Malaysian called as "Berita NTV7: Berita Nasional" on daily noon (every day) at 13:00 until 13:30 MST and weekday evening (every Monday to Friday) at 19:00 until 19:30 MST.
On 1 January 2005, Media Prima Berhad announced its acquisition of ntv7. Media Prima also owns three other private television stations in Malaysia: TV3, 8TV and TV9, as well as a controlling stake in the New Straits Times, owned by New Straits Times Press.
On 1 January 2006, NTV7 it was moving head office and television studios to Sri Pentas at Persiaran Bandar Utama Nomor. 3 in Petaling Jaya, state of Selangor Darul Ehsan.
