She worked in the theater scene in Stockholm and was the author of several published books.
Career
She started several theaters and was the first one to put up an Anton Chekhov play in Sweden. In the early 1930s she started the Theater at Sveavägen, which went into bankruptcy after only one year. In 1940 she was a co-founder for Sveriges dramatikers studio along with Vilhelm Moberg and Helge Hagerman. The studio's first two plays were Ebbe Linde's Brudsporre and Dicte Sjögren's Pappersväggen.
As an author she made her debut with the renaissance drama Lucrezia (1912). In 1917 her play Kring drottningen had its premiere at Svenska teatern with Pauline Brunius and Gösta Ekman in the lead roles. The first ever Swedish radio theater broadcast was her play Kungens amour, which was broadcasted on 11 January 1925. Between 1930 and 1941 she was a theater critic at the newspapers Östergötlands dagblad and Arbetet.
Brita became a close friend of Elsa Collin; both women shared a house together. Together they created the theater group Dramatikerstudion and wrote a play for their studio based on von Horn's book Aschebergskan på Wittskövle.
Death
Brita von Horn died in 1983.
