World Market is a retail store from company Cost Plus which was founded in San Francisco, California in 1958. In 1996 the company was popular enough to go public, and began trading on the NASDAQ. They currently have stores in 31 states including Ohio and Texas.

As a business they offer a wide array of goods from many countries, including but not limited to dishes, rugs, furniture, candles and plates. Perhaps best described as a larger, less expensive version of Pier 1, the store features many artistic and cultural accessories for sale. In addition World Market also has a large and noteworthy international dry goods (non-refrigerated) food area. They are especially well known for an extensive wine selection in each store. The business has some "store brand" consumables, including but not limited to their own versions of unique condiments and drinks. Some of these items, such as Vegemite, Marmite, and Coffee Crisp, are extremely hard to find in the States.
