Nirmaljhar is a perennial stream beside a temple of Lord Vishnu. Apart from Lord Vishnu, other gods and goddesses (i.e. Jagannath, Vimala, Radhakrishna, Nilakantheswar, Surya Narayan and Ganesh) are worshipped inside the main temple premises. A perennial stream flows from Badaghati Mountains from Easter Ghat. At present, Khallikote princess Smt. Sugyani Devi has formed a committee to promote this tourist site.

Geography

Nirmaljhar is located at 19°36′00″N 85°03′58″E / 19.60°N 85.066°E / 19.60; 85.066. It has an average altitude of 13 m (43 ft). No government accommodation on site, but there is a Panthanivas near Rambha which is 10 km away from Nirmaljhar.

Etymology

The name “Nirmaljhar” also suggests that “nirmal” means pure and “jhar” means stream.

Tourist attractions

There are two Kundas (small swimming pools) with pure, cold water. This is also a picnic site in the Ganjam district. Nearby attractions include the Palace of the King of Khallikote, Jhadeswar and Sankaleswar Temple.

Transport

Nirmaljhar has both road and rail links. It is 60 km from Berhampur to the North and 120 km from the state Capital Bhubaneswar to the south. Khallikote station is the nearest railway station; it is 9 km from Niramaljhar.
