The event features former wrestlers from the revived Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion, whose holdings WWE purchased in bankruptcy court. The event is held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

ECW One Night Stand 2005 was held on June 12, 2005. No titles were contested or even displayed, despite the last ECW World Television Champion and ECW World Heavyweight Champion (Rhino) and the last ECW World Tag Team Champions (Danny Doring and Roadkill) attending.
- Lance Storm (w/Dawn Marie) defeated "Lionheart" Chris Jericho
- Storm pins Jericho following the interference from Jason and Justin Credible, who hit Jericho with his Singapore cane. This match was billed as Storm's retirement match beforehand.
- Super Crazy defeated Yoshihiro Tajiri (w/The Sinister Minister and Mikey Whipwreck) and Little Guido Maritato (w/The F.B.I. - Tracy Smothers, Tony Mamaluke, Sal E. Graziano and J.T. Smith) in an International Three-Way Dance
- Tajiri pins Guido following a Top rope Whipper-snapper by Whipwreck. Crazy pins Tajiri with the Trifecta (triple Moonsault).
- Rey Mysterio, Jr. defeated Psicosis
- Mysterio pins Psicosis with a West Coast Pop.
- Sabu defeated Rhino
- Sabu pins Rhino following an Arabian Skullcrusher through a table after Rob Van Dam interfered.
- "The Crippler" Chris Benoit defeated Eddie Guerrero
- Benoit forces Guerrero to submit using the Crippler Crossface.
- Mike Awesome defeated Masato Tanaka
- Awesome defeats Tanaka following an Awesome Bomb through a table outside the ring, followed by a slingshot Awesome Splash. After the match Mike Awesome powerbombed the referee..
- The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) defeated Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman
- Dudley Boyz defeated Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman when Spike Dudley, wearing full old-school Dudley-gear, came down with a bottle of lighter fluid to help The Dudleyz Powerbomb Tommy Dreamer through a flaming table. Earlier in the match, Dreamer and Buh Buh Ray opened each other's foreheads with a cheese grater. Francine, Beulah McGillicutty, Lance Storm and Justin Credible also showed up during the match.

ECW One Night Stand 2006 was held on June 11, 2006. The event would mark the first time in nearly five years that an ECW World Heavyweight Champion would be crowned since the days of the now defunct Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion.
- Tazz defeated Jerry "The King" Lawler(0:31)
- Lawler gets choked out by the Tazzmission after interference from Joey Styles.
- Kurt Angle defeated Randy Orton(15:09)
- Randy Orton tapped out to the Ankle Lock.
- The FBI (Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke) defeated Tajiri and Super Crazy(12:25)
- Tony Mamaluke pinned Tajiri after a Double Fisherman Buster.
- After the match, the Big Show came to the ring and attacked The FBI, Tajiri and Super Crazy.
- World Heavyweight Championship: Rey Mysterio (c) vs. Sabu ends in a no contest(9:11)
- Sabu nailed Mysterio with a Triple Jump DDT through a table on to the floor. Dr. Ferdinand Rios came out and called off the match.
- Mick Foley, Edge and Lita defeated Terry Funk, Tommy Dreamer and Beulah McGillicutty(18:47)
- Edge pinned Beulah McGillicutty following a Spear.
- Balls Mahoney defeated Masato Tanaka(5:02)
- Balls Mahoney pinned Masato Tanaka after a steel chair shot.
- WWE Championship: Rob Van Dam defeated John Cena (c) to win the WWE/ECW Championship(20:39)
- Edge speared John Cena through a table while the referee was knocked out and Rob Van Dam connected with the 5-Star Frog Splash to become the WWE/ECW Champion; Paul Heyman counted the pinfall.
