Poverty Inc is a 2014 documentary film by Gary Null and Valerie Van Cleve, and as the title suggests, it looks at poverty and its causes. It features Chris Hedges, Ralph Nader, Dennis Kucinich, Robert Reich, and Vandana Shiva.
About the film
The film examines corporate globalism and looks at the signing of the 1913 Federal Reserve Act by Woodrow Wilson and the demise of the Glass-Steagall Act. It follows the recession of 2008 and looks at the non-existence of job security. It looks at the millions of American citizens who are homeless. People are now visiting soup kitchens. Six years later what has happened? There are fifty million Americans living below the the poverty line with 7 million who are surviving on less than $2 a day. The film features in-depth interviews politicians and some of the most well known economists, progressive politicians, It looks at the issues of capitalism and corporate power. And it looks at how things have come to to be as they are in this present day.
