Steve Nash

Steven John Nash (born February 7, 1974 in Johannesburg, South Africa) is a Canadian basketball player.

Nash is a starting point guard for the NBA's Phoenix Suns. He was an NBA All-Star in 2002 and 2003 with the Dallas Mavericks.

Nash grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. He played college basketball for Santa Clara University. He plays for the Canada national team in the summer, where he wears the number 7.

Nash began his career with the Suns from 1996 to 1998. On June 25, 1998, Nash was traded to the Mavericks in exchange for Martin Muursepp, Bubba Wells, the draft rights to Pat Garrity, and a first-round draft pick. Nash was a key player with the Mavericks from 1998 to 2004. On July 1, 2004, it was announced that Nash would sign as a free agent with the Suns, but NBA regulations prevented the deal from being formalized until July 14.

On October 14, Nash and longtime girlfriend Alejandra Amarilla became the parents of twin girls, Lola and Bella, who were born at a Phoenix hospital.

In an interview, Nash said his favorite book is The Catcher In The Rye. He also mentioned he is extremely fond of Mahatma Gandhi, because he is constantly searching for truth.
