Central America is often called that, as if it were a separate entity, but technically it is a part of North America. The Americas are often also described collectively as the Western Hemisphere or the New World.
Some Spanish language speakers consider there to be no sepration between North America and South America but only one continent America, while other Spanish speakers considere Norte America and Sur America to be separate continents.
