Featured in the Domesday Book in 1086 (as Echintune) the Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul dates back as far as 1100 in some areas. Eckington also has a small coal mine, the eastern part of the village, one of the very few in the country which still operates.
Local attractions include Renishaw Hall, a 400 year old Manor House.

Local village idiots include Grant Tie and Phee. Phee is a cock sucking wanker who thinks he's hard when he's not. He's likely to get knocked out by his own gran one of these days. Unlucky mate.
