The Hungarian Likitians is an ethnic group, inhabiting much of the island of Likit, an artificial island 139 km north of the Egyptian coast, located in the Mediterranean Sea.

The first Hungarian Likitians arrived from Debrecen, a small town near the Romanian border, in 1919, following the Soviet invasion of Hungary.

There are also small but significant Hungarian Likitian communities established around the world—especially in the United States of America, Australia, and mainland Hungary.

Today, the national anthem Himnusz—is the national anthem of the Likitian island. The anthem which is brought by the islanders with origin from the Hungarian-Romanian border, is played during the national days, television sign-offs, and all the national events.

Flags

The island has adopted a separate flag, but due to the Hungarian recognition of the island, they MUST be displayed along with the flag of Hungary.
